Zuckuss - Crew

By Stone37, in X-Wing

I'm surprised that this card has not been looked at more closely by the forum. We tend to gravitate to offensive heavy cards, and sometime overlook the control aspect of the game.

This crew card does a few things for scum ships. 1st) it takes away the defensive opponent's ability to reroll their own dice that are effected by this upgrade. Pilot abilities, crew cards, and EPTs that would allow for green rerolls are now moot.

2) Stress eaters are going to LOVE this card:

Fragile PTL arc-dodgers see this combo in their nightmares! This is the most anti Fel and Whisper combo I have ever seen!

But Zuckuss has more uses than just with 4-LOM.... I'm already starting to play with lists. What have you come up with?

I've been looking at Zuckuss + Dengar - that way you can not worry about clearing your stress. I think it'd be pretty viable on a ship like the YV-666 which has a generally white and green dial.

Dengar is the ideal pilot for Zuckuss crew IMO. Plan that you are going to have infinite stress. NEVER take an action. Once you get past that you also know that your opponent is NEVER going to naturally roll an evade against you, (not the first time anyhow). Your attack value of 3 is now going to feel more like a 4 or 5, considering how likely you are to get hits through now. Plus you can attack multiple times a round - you can S-Loop, you've got great turns, a great dial....

You've also got R5-P8 AND anti-pursuit to deal even more damage to people who mess with you. And when you line up that perfect double-shot, well then you pop glitterstim, because it's the natural choice here. You are actually pretty likely to force your opponent to forgoe their entire attack this way!
I added in some Z-95s for fun, but I could see this being a double-ace list. I have recently had some great luck with a swarm of feedback arrays (1-shotted a full cloaked whisper!)

Dengar (33)
Predator (3)
Zuckuss (1)
R5-P8 (3)
Glitterstim (2)
Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)
Punishing One (12)

I've been testing various wingmates with this little gem:

Bossk: VI, Homing Missile, Guidance Chip, K4, 4-LOM, Zuckuss. (46)

Alpha Strike hits luck a freight train, then you have a Target Locking Bossk who doesn't care about your tokens or green dice. Crits with his primary are just bonus.

I'd like it with Wired EPT for a cheap predator-wise upgrade,

Boon is that it also works with defense, not just attack :)

I could see Zuckuss crew being really good on a ship that has 'wired' as an upgrade

I keep thinking Juke myself. Make them reroll with Zuckuss if they get more than 1 evade, then if they reroll an evade, Juke it. Upside to having the Evade action on the Mist Hunter.

4-Lom + Zuckuss (crew) + Juke sounds fun. Take away all their defenses and then stress them for good measure.

EDIT: Throw on Accuracy Corrector for good measure. =)

The problem with Wired + Zuckuss is you wouldn't be able to use the reroll on that attack, since unless you were already stressed, you would be past the "Modify Attack Dice" step once you get the stress.

EDIT: Nevermind - I thought Attanni Mindlink said "Each Other Ship", so I was thinking it would link across the table..... but it says Friendly. Brain Fart.

I also KIND of think Attani Mindlink would be a fun upgrade to give Dengar in this case. Suppose your opponents run it, you'll perma-stress them out also!

For good measure here's a fun list that would really be there just to troll the heck out of your opponents if they ever bring an attain mindlink into a game against you:

Dengar (33)
Attanni Mindlink (1)
Zuckuss (1)
R5-P8 (3)
Glitterstim (2)
Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)
Punishing One (12)

Bossk (35)
Attanni Mindlink (1)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Weapons Engineer (3)
Glitterstim (2)
Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

I don't care how much stress I pile up, Bossk is going to give me actions when I probably miss my initial attack.

I think this is probably my favourite Pablo, I think it is this natural evolution of the Bossk Pablo I have been using to great effect.

Is there a more annoying ship that puts out really consistent damage like this build?

I like that. To complete that list I'll toss on Latts Razzi in another YV-666, with Weapons Engineer and K4 Security Droid, and an M3A Cartel Spicer with Heavy Laser Cannon. Opponents will probably go after the M3A first, which will make it easy to predict their movement and help you line up two YV-666's to have consistent firing arcs.

I love how this wave is giving Scum plenty of options to make a build that encourages us not to care about stress. Especially considering the current Stressbot and TLT tactician K-wings heavy meta (at least in my area). I think Rage and Zuckuss were made for each other.

So building on what others have posted, I'm very interested in trying:

Palob (28 points)
Rage
Zuckuss

TLT

Low HP, limited dial and max 2 damage per turn, but this is the cheapest combo of Rage and Zuckuss I could find. Palob's ability plays well into making the TLT R1 deadzone a little less appealing.

Mandalorian Mercenary (37 points)
Rage
Zuckuss

More expensive, but twice the HP of the Hawk. With only the K-turns red on the dial and the aux firing arc the Firespray has the potential to be less negatively affected by a mountain of stress than most. Although to be honest I'm mostly interested in this for the novelty of running a generic Firespray which I've never done before.

Contracted Scout (39 pts)
Rage
Zuckuss
Punishing One

With the PWT you are practically guaranteed to be able shoot at something. This might be too expensive to field in a tournament setting with only 9 HP, but still one I really want to try.

Palob w/Wired + Zuckuss + TLT and no plans to ever take an action again.

You forgot the Moldy Crow allowing you to have a focus bank prior to engagement, you will only use these on defence. His ability also means he can keep stealing them, so he has no need for the actions anyway.

Are you forgetting that Rage requires an action to use? You'll get to use it once, then never again if you're stressing yourself with zuckuss on top of the 2 stress rage already gives you...

I like to call him Bossk HWK . Wired is a nice addition for him.

In addition to WWHSD's version.

You can try

Pablo w/ TLT, Bossk, Moldy Crow and Wired

Or

Pablo w/ TLT, Bossk, Moldy Crow and Lonewolf

The second is quite defensive, but has obvious drawbacks with the Lonewolf range. But he is a very self sufficient ship and is not to be underestimated. He should beat most ships one on one, but will die if he gets ganged up on. The first version is more of a team player, but still pretty good all rounder. He will die just because Pablo attracts a lot of hate. Neither of them care about clearing the stress since they have sources of rerolls and focus without need of an action so there is no real need to restrict him to just green moves.

You're right I completely overlooked Rage requiring an action. Having a bunch of Black Sun Aces with Wingman probably wouldn't be the best use of points. Thanks for the correction!

Such a good ship for it's points. Aces hate it sooooo much. I've been playing this build for a while now

https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Scum%20and%20Villainy&d=v4!s!134:-1,-1,133,21,174,108:24:-1:;122:135,-1,-1,121:-1:-1:;122:135,-1,-1,121:-1:-1:&sn=Unnamed%20Squadron

Surprisingly good. Slaver deals with the aces and the TLTs deal with everything else. Worst matchups I think would be duel IGs or TLT swarm.

Aside from losing space for tactician this build is great. Only thing is you may not want to get overzealous about triggering Zuckuss on first shot (unless your roll is great) so that you have everything for 2nd shot.

Also. Absolutely love the Bossk HWK build with wired. Very interesting.
