Attanni Mindlink and Recon Specialist.

By spiderglow, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi Im wondering how this two cards interact.

Recon says it grants an additional focus token when you do a focus action. I read this as your focus action grants two focus tokens.

If Im right, I understand that Attanni Mindlink would allow all the other aircrafts with the link to receive two focus tokens since it bypass the restriction of not previously having a token of the same type. Because of the rule "Each other friendly ship with Attanny link must also be assigned the same type of token if it does not already have one."

Am I missing something?

Thanks for your feedback

Not yet clear, will need FAQing. Probably only gives 1 focus imo.

Recon Specialist only triggers when you take a Focus **action**. Being assigned a Focus token is not the same thing as doing the action. So even if you have two ships, both with Mindlink and both with Recon Specialist, when one of them takes the Focus action, it will get two Focus tokens, but the other ship will only be assigned one, because of the limit built into Mindlink.

I'm not sure why this would need a FAQ entry. Why would Recon Specialist bypass the restriction on Mindlink? The description of the focus action says:

To perform the action, assign one focus token to the ship.

Recon Specialist says:

When you perform a focus action, assign 1 additional focus token to your ship.

That's a trigger and an instruction based on that trigger. So you take the focus action, which means assigning a focus token to your ship. That triggers Recon Specialist, which adds another focus token. Attanni Mindlink means you have a second ship that can mirror the first token--but not the second, because the Mindlink checks and sees that second ship already has one.

No FAQ needed. It's what Vorpal said.

Ditto on Vorpal. That's the way I read it too.

As has been noted in other threads, you can use this combo to gain 3 focus.

A lower ps pilot with AM passes a focus to a ship with this combo, that then preforms a focus action gaining 2 more.

That said, it's still a stress lists free lunch.
