Competitive build with these expansions

By kiloalpha, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm looking into building a competitive squad. My expansions are as follows.

Force awakens core set

Falcon

Slave 1

Rebel aces

Ig 2000

Is there anything I could do with this? I don't want to have to spend much more. (the wife is getting a little fussy) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Poe Dameron 31

-BB-8 2

-Veteran Instincts 1

Han Solo 46

-Engine Upgrade 4

-Millenium Falcon 1

Prototype Pilot 17

-Chardaan Refit -2

Comes out to exactly 100 points.

I don't play scum or rebels so I'm sure someone else can build something stronger with what you have. This is a pretty bread and butter squad though. With access to more upgrades you could drop the A-wing and make the list a real nightmare to deal with. This should do alright though. Less durabillity since you're missing regen though.

PILOTS

Poe Dameron (36)
T-70 X-Wing (31), BB-8 (2), Weapons Guidance (2), Veteran Instincts (1)

Han Solo (63)
YT-1300 (46), Veteran Instincts (1), Chewbacca (4), Luke Skywalker (7), Millennium Falcon (1), Engine Upgrade (4)

Given your very limited options, this is the best I think you can currently do. You have no R2D2 or C-3P0, so you'll have to use your high PS and maneuverability to dodge arcs. That'll be your means of defense. That, and shooting before your opponents.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking about going to buy a couple of small ships this afternoon. Any ideas?

Either the other core set to get r2-d2 for Poe (and three ships of course) or you could always use the x-wing wiki to figure out which upgrades are the most intersting to you and get the corresponding expansions.

Imperial Aces comes with two copies of push the limit. You could switch out chewie for Jan Ors giving you the option of two evades/turn or focus/evade with push. Push is also really great with bb8. It also comes with 2X Opportunist which is a good fit with Keyan, too. Tie phantom comes with recon specialist, tactician, and fire control system... Great crew options for the falcon and your b-wing and the B likes that system. Finally, starviper has 2 copies of autothrusters for your A and calculation and accuracy corrector are interesting. I'd say another A-wing which has dead eye for Nera, but it doesn't look like you have any torpedoes...

Get the original Core. Poe is a lot better with R2-D2 than BB-8. Especially if you don't have PTL to make best use of BB-8. If you're strictly playing Rebel, a Y wing and K wing would be great.

If you can, try entering a local store Championship. Top 32 gets a C-3PO crew card that is amazing on the Falcon. I placed 31st with only having played like 4 games previously. At my store championship, all participants also got a Gunner Crew card, which is also really good on the Falcon

Han Solo (46)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Tactician (2)
Luke Skywalker (7)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Millennium Falcon (1)
Poe Dameron (31)
Push the Limit (3)
BB-8 (2)
Weapons Guidance (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Total: 99

Point Han forward at an ace, get into R2 by boosting or natural movement and try to get evaded on the first shot. Double stress them and then lay on the hurt next turn.

I recommend getting Most Wanted Pack, the Awing, and the T-70 blisters all will add meat to the bones of what you already got. Going Empire isn't your best choice in my opinion.

I went with the original core set for the r2d2. I am planning on playing in a store tourney here soon. So, any ideas with that added?

I'd go for this:

Poe with VI and R2D2.

Autothrusters would be ideal but you don't have them yet.

Han Solo with Push the Limit (it's in rebel aces, right?), Kyle Katarn, Luke Skywalker, Falcon title and Engine Upgrade

Comes to 100

No PtL but my brother in law has it so I could bum off him if he's not using it.

Just to get some other thoughts going in yalls expert minds, I have three weeks until the store championship. I plan on spending at most 100 more dollars on expansions by then. If you have any opinions on what I should buy to make a perfect list please let me know.

I would like to get a lot of practice in though so guess around 30 dollars a week. The sooner I could get it built the better.

The first thing you need is Autothrusters on Poe. It comes in the Starviper, which isn't ideal, but it is a staple on T-70s. VI Han and VI Poe in a squad together will do a lot of heavy lifting, so just practice as much as possible to learn the nuances and learn which upgrades you want to ultimately go with.

Luke is NOT better than Gunner on the Falcon, so unless you just have points to burn, then Gunner is the better choice.

Another decent combo is to put Jan Ors on the Falcon, and a Comms Relay on the T-70. Early game, before you get close enough for combat, give Poe an Evade through Jan and he can keep it until he needs to burn it. Refresh as needed whenever he ends up using it. Relay comes in the Tie/FO.

You could also try using Juke on Poe with the Ors/Relay combo to maximize his damage output by semi-cancelling one of the defender's evade results. Juke also comes in the Tie/FO.

Very interesting. Thanks a lot. I'll definitely look into it.

My previous advice stands. I would advise against an earlier poster's suggestion of most wanted. Ours $40 and has no cards you can use unless you get a y-wing or chuck your entire plan so far and go scum. Remember- $15 gets you rec spec, tactician, and fcs (and a phantom).

If you're going to spend $100, you need to include a Star Viper in that list of purchases.

Next should be a K wing. TLT adds a lot to a list when you have little to work with. And I agree with a previous statement that Phantom would help a lot.

Or..... You already have Slave 1 and IG. You could scrap your rebel list and buy Most Wanted, then still add in a Star Viper to that list, and possibly an HWK and a K

I ended up buying the StarViper and a tie/fo

So you still got a budget? I suggest Awing or Imp Aces for PtL. With that you can field scary combination of Awing:

Jake Farrel +Autothrusters +Proton Rockets +VI +PtL +Title (33)

He is almost rebel version of soontir fel (that is badarse :) ).

The idea about building the Falcon should be: get as many damage mitigation as possible while still having some offensive option. Lacking C3PO you have only one build possible:

Han Solo +PtL +Kyle Katarn +Jan Ors +Title +Engine Upgrade

That combo gives you: free focus from kyle>change it into evade with Jan>as action: another evade from title>PtL into Focus/Target Lock/Boost as needed. That build got 2 damage prevented every turn plus free ofensive action plus han. Pair it with Poe +VI +Autothrusters +R2D2 nad you got yourself TOP8 worth squadron.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking about going to buy a couple of small ships this afternoon. Any ideas?

Or if you have limited budget another T-70 and another TIE/FO

I would also vote to get the original core set as well. R2-D2 is an amazing card with Poe and Luke.
