R5-P8

By Baak, in X-Wing

Excuse me if this has been asked before, but I couldnt find it on the forum:

If you roll the dice with R5-P8 (Salvaged astromech) can you spend a focus token to change it to a hit?

No, it's not an attack.

Negative. As it is not an attack, you may not spend focus to modify the results.

I'm sorry- What does the text say?

Cool, thanks guys!

Once per round, after defending, you may roll 1 attack die. On a hit result, the attacker suffers 1 damage. On a critical hit result, you and the attacker each suffer 1 damage

Thanks, Plato! I was looking for that all day yesterday!

I can see how people might see "roll 1 attack die" and think it's an attack, but I'm pretty sure it would specify "perform an attack" if that was the intent.

He doesn't shoot off a Stealth Device either. Still though, getting that hit against Soontir is pretty nice anyway.

Yup, technically, you could blow Soontir up without ever shooting him.

Hadn't seen that card .. I like it!

Especially if you put it on a regenerating jumpmaster. Soontir'll probably die from r5p8 before he can kill you.

Now if only he could be fielded with the emperor :)

Hmmm... Couldn't you use the Emperor to change the R5 hit to a crit and get some satisfaction that way?

The emporer only changes your dice roll.

Especially if said Jumpmaster also has Feedback Array.

Nope - the Imperial player isn't the one who'd be rolling the dice.

It was spoiled with the Dengar preview last week. It's a 3-point Salvaged Astromech with a blaster turret in its dome.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that this should have been Chopper's ability?

Herm... I'm just thinking about this coupled with Dead Man Switch. Ya sure you want to shoot at me? You'll be taking 2 damage if you kill me......

I think that wether or not you can use it if you get destroyed is still up for debate and will need to be FAQed.

But on Dengar, you will definetly think twice before shooting at him while in his arc. 50% chance of taking an undodgeable damage AND get attacked by Dengar.

I think its going to do especially well against arc-dodgers. They're counting on not getting hit when attacking, but this makes them think twice to attack a ship that has this fun little droid installed :)

For me it really messes psychologically with your opponent's arc-dodgers/glass cannon. It's basically making your ship a no-go target for these ships as they risk one damage in return. Also, the ships that can take this, have pretty big HP so they wont mind taking the one damage against a fragile arc-dodger.
