Titanforge Lance Battery is Strength 2 - what does that mean rules-wise?

On page 202 the Titanforge Lance Battery is strength 2. On page 220, the rules mention weapon Strength only in relation to macrobatteries (as the maximum 'hits' on can get in one weapon component fired). Lances are just mentioned to get a 'hit' for a successfull roll, plus one additional hit for every 3 degrees of success additional. Am I to assume that lances can only get one total hit, unless they're Titanforge Lance Batteries, and then they can get up to 2 hits total?

That would be correct, yes.

Presumably when the shipbuilding book comes out there will be even bigger lance batteries with even higher Strength.

Given the number of degrees of success needed to score additional hits with lances, I wouldn't expect to see a lance battery higher than Strength 3 (requiring 6 degrees of success to use fully) - anything higher is a waste.

Unless of course those bigger batteries also have Special Rules making them require fewer DoS.

Indeed, fluff-wise Eldar lances are capable of sustaining their lance-burning far longer than any imperial ship often burning out the Void Shilds of capital ships in a single "shot" and still damage the ship. Which would propably reflec as something like strength 3, an addition hit every second DoS in game.
