Crazy Dracon's favorite combo made possible with Jumpmaster cards

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing

Gonk + Experimental Interface.

Perform an action (like, say, Gonk1)

Perform an action from an upgrade card (like, say, Gonk2)

Receive a Stress Token.

5 points total, requiring a Crew and a Mod slot.

However, it's arguably more powerful than R2D2, particularly on 4-Lom :D

Neither R2-D2 variant (crew, astro) takes an action though. Gonk'll be good, but I think the real good Gonk work will be done by building up a few shields in advance! This combo is useful as a closer strategy, but in the middle of combat I'd rather take Evades.

Also, that Youngster + Rage = 16 points, and can therefore fly in an 8-Tie formation, rather than a Howlrunner 7.

Still doesn't solve the Anti-Ace problem the swarm has, though.

It goes thusly:

  • Walking into combat, you Gonk1, and build up a reserve. These shields are on the Gonk crew card, and not on the ship, and so cannot cancel dice.
  • In combat, you can Evade if you're in a ship with the action, and ExInt into a Gonk2 to regenerate any lost damage, for a fair bit of cancer.
  • Post-combat but when not attacked, you can perform the combo as I mentioned above.

I did mention 4-Lom for the stress, but I really want to try it on Boba Fett.

Yes EI will be cool. I like the idea of banking up shields too.

Could be an odd, inefficient synergy with defensive HWK with Cloaking Device and Gonk. Enable cloak and stack shields (have EI to allow focus for defense). When cloak fails, you have shield reserve. Not necessarily recommended but could keep Palob alive for long while.

I'm not normally one to suggest irregular swarms, but might slotting Ragin' Epsilon Ace in there to benefit from Youngster perhaps provide you a bit of bite against aces? I guess that's the use that pilot was designed for.

Out of combat though you're right, the flee and regen strategy now has options for 2/3 factions.

Epsilon Leader works better, as he lets your swarm Rage every round!

Of course, but why not something like both?

"Epsilon Leader" (19)
"Epsilon Ace" (17)
"Youngster" (15)
Rage (1)
Academy Pilot (12)
Academy Pilot (12)

Academy Pilot (12)
Total: 100

What an weird asymmetrical swarm. i like it.

But enough about that, let's talk Regen!

...Anyone? No? Awww :(

I like Wampa better as anti-Ace tech than Epsilon.

And I can then give everyone TIE mk.II :D

nvm wrong Epsilon. Hull/Stealth on Youngster, depending on which one helps better in your metagame.

Well that's a fair point, Ragin' Wampa actually does have a better chance of getting his magical crits than Howlin' Wampa because of the extra rerolls. Still, he can be arc-dodged just as easily as any other TIE.

The bigger thing is that I want to fit that PS 12 in somewhere and this is the most satisfactory use I've found so far after I've had some mostly unsatisfying games with Decoy EPT Phantoms.
