Boba Fett crew and chardaan refit?

What would happen if you used Boba Fett's crew ability to discard chardaan refit and put the enemy squad over 100 points?

The point value of a squad is set at the start of the game. Nothing happens, so hitting Chardaan with Boba is pointless.

As is hitting Prototype Test Pilot, because that wouldn't make you discard one of the two elite talents.

When an upgrade card is discarded, it is flipped facedown. The card is out of play for all purposes except when determining the total squad point cost of the ship to which it was equipped.

This little clause in the rules is becoming much, much more important lately.

This is easy enough to answer just by asking "once a ship discards an upgrade is it now worth less when it is killed?"

If you were to argue that forcing someone to get rid of the refit would make the ship more expensive then you are also arguing that discarding Boba would make the ship he was on LESS expensive. I don't think you believe that but that is how things would work.

You'd also be arguing that after a Tempest Squadron Pilots fires its Proton Rockets, it's worth 3 points less. That would be... weird, and not very defensible (especially given that ship costs help determine victory in a tournament context).

Although I sometimes wonder if such a rule would make ordnance more attractive.

Just playing devil's advocate for a moment but if the stuff that gets discarded doesn't have it's points counted that sure might make some things more cost effective. If your 4 point piece of ordnance happens to take out a 12 point ship you may have a 16 point swing when it comes to determining victory and a 32 point swing in MoV.

Not going to happen but it is sometime fun to consider.

Specifically in the tournament rules discarded cards are called out as not counting for anythign EXCEPT calculating squad point values, so this is all kind of moot.
