Anti-crackswarm Y's

By HargraveActual, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I am hard headed enough to keep trying to beat the infamous TIE f/o Crackwarm with anything BUT another swarm of the same. And being a Scum enthusiast I'm determined to do it using any variety of dirty tricks and outdated machines to do it.

So, using the popular and reliable TLT Y-wing as a base I think I've come up with a way to lay the pain on them. It consists of a formation joust, that may or may or not include a k-turn to dump bombs into the flight path of the swarm.

It's not hugely creative but it might just be competitive.

Trident (100)

Syndicate Thug (32) - Y-Wing

Bomb Loadout (0), Extra Munitions (2), Twin Laser Turret (6), Unhinged Astromech (1), Proton Bombs (5)

Syndicate Thug (32) - Y-Wing

Bomb Loadout (0), Extra Munitions (2), Twin Laser Turret (6), Unhinged Astromech (1), Proton Bombs (5)

Kavil (36) - Y-Wing

Swarm Tactics (2), Ion Torpedoes (5), Bomb Loadout (0), Autoblaster Turret (2), Unhinged Astromech (1), Seismic Charges (2)

you'll get much further relying on reliable seismics rather than rng-laden proton bombs which could end up doing jack ****

Miranda (TLT, double seismics) [39]

Gray Squadron (TLT, extras, seismics) [30]

Gray Squadron (TLT, extras, seismics) [30]

Total: 99

don't see any crackswarms dropping for bids, so you can be sure to know where the Black Squads go and exactly when you should drop bombs or not

Miranda is just auto-win if there aren't enough Ties against her, and downright nasty late-game in general. I've used her in another list (she had room for c3po) many times for the expressed purpose of countering crackswarm, and she + her charges have been beautiful in every single game against everything from swarms to aces.

I went with Proton bombs because 1; they have the same detonation rules and range as seismics and 2; against f/o's getting under that shield can really crimp someone's plans.

Having said that on a practical note I don't think I can see myself buy 2 extra k-wings just for the sake of experimenting... Them things cost LOL
