JM5K preview just hit with exciting new scum crew options, so it is time for me to revisit Bossk + IG-88 B!

My previous version ran K4-Security Droid and Outlaw Tech on Bossk, for whom I had to downgrade Glitterstim to Inertial Dampeners. Now I get to replace the two action cards for some more fun. Boba is great utility with the Mangler Cannon and shield stripping abilities of both ships, Dengar has the same effect as K4 in many situations but is less conditional. Slightly weaker, but overall more reliable. I think this might be the go to Bossk build in wave 8.

Is the mangler really worth it? I dropped it from my bossk builds recently since I found I wasn't using it as much as I had hoped to. It has obvious synergy with bossk and boba but I think you'd get better mileage from an advanced homing missile and engine upgrade. The AHM also has the benefit of taking their best upgrade on your very first shot.

I really like the Mangler as a cheap HLC and in a two ship build there really is no reason not to. I would say it is more reliable than AHMs. Bossk has an EU in this build, I forgot to put it into the list, sorry. If he didn't have one you are absolutely right, those 4 points add a lot more value! Now if you want to run Bossk in a list with 3+ ships it can be a good idea to drop the Mangler in favour of better escort.

3 dice turret, and can pull focus once he stacks up a few shields to let bossk do his thing. Pred is there to modify attack allowing him to use gonk more often. For extra shenanigans drop the mangler and give him a hull upgrade as well.

Theres also the option of swapping pred forlone wolf, but he probably wants to be near bossk covering rear arcs

The advantage of going with mangler or HLC is that those pesky A-wings don't get that extra green die at range 3.
