The real mistake was to suggest using Flight Instructor.

It'll have a role one day.

Yeah Gonk crew is awesome, I want this on a Scum Firespray. Slow roll a few turns, build up a reserve of shields, do some hit-and-runs and recover before heading back into the fight.

But Gonk is going to be fun.

You can't ever perform the same Action twice per turn. Otherwise you could Push the Limit to double Focus or Target Lock.

You can't ever perform the same Action twice per turn. Otherwise you could Push the Limit to double Focus or Target Lock.

The point being though there are two different actions on the card. I don't see any problem with Action: place a token on Gonk > EI > Action: Spend token on gonk to recover a shield

Push the Limit isn't an action. It says Once per round, after performing an action, you may perform 1 free action shown in your action bar. Then receive 1 Stress token. There is no Action: header on the card; what prevents you from PtLing twice in a turn is the Stress. Also the Once per round part of it, which I failed to mention the first time

The Gonk crew card is the first we've seen (I think, anyway) with two separate Action: headers, which leads me to believe they are distinct actions and, yes, EI would work with them. Unless FFG gives us a rules update stating cards with multiple Action: headers are treated as a single action... which would be so **** confusing.

I don't think this will be spammed a lot during a typical match because you can only add one Shield at a time and it takes an Action to do so. So instead of taking Target Locks or Focuses, you would be adding a single Shield to the ship. Good, but not OP. If you use Experimental Interface, then you are self-inflicting Stress and that makes you VERY predictable.

Well if you play slow at the start, you could maybe get 2/3/even 4 turns of shield collecting for later on.

Also this card isn't a GONK action, it has two distinct actions on the card. So I think with EI you COULD do both. But of course, FAQ will be inbound.

I misread the comment. Yes you can do both, but you can't add more than one Shield at a time. I.e. you can't spend the first 5 turns stockpiling Shields then add them all at once.

I think it is more for when you peel off to recover for a round or two and try to stay out of arc. And the unhinged astromech will help keep you less predictable for the jump master.

At least this one requires an action. It also benefits the Gonk'd ship because they aren't locked into green maneuvers, so long as they weren't stressed the turn before.

Yeah, I can see several situations where this would be handy:

- You've broken out of combat and have a few turns to get your shields restored.

- Your Firespray or Jumpmaster has a single damage card assigned. Restore a shield, and you're back above half health to keep your MOV intact.

- You have PTL or EI, so you can still perform other actions.

ALWAYS BE GONKING.

The only problem is, at 2 points it's not quite a "might a well use it" type upgrade. If it were 1 point then I could see it making it into nearly every list, because why not?

But at 2 points you actually are looking at giving something up for it, so you almost have to get a shield back to make it pay for itself.

I'm not saying it should be 1 point... I'm just saying at 2 points you have to actually think about putting it on a ship.

I'm beginning to think that mistakes in FFG preview articles have become like the big hat that Harry Dresden is pictured wearing on the cover of every Dresden Files novel.

unless using EI (ptl does NOT work), you gonk' 1 shield every 2 turns. it seems a lot fairer to me than a corran with R2 or R5. *hate that guy*

at the very least a lot less annoying.
