Well I am for one, but I thought I would check on the boards and see who else was making the trip to Germany this year...

This year is impossible for me... maybe next one!
Count me in
I spoke with Thorondor about making a thread in the forums to see who is going and to check on arrival times to see if it's possible to do split cab rides and to make parties to go to Stahleck.
I see you already took that step xD
So who else is coming and where will you arrive?
Ashma
ah we wanted too but just tooo expensive for us at the moment, flights werent cheap, plus we have to get a babby sitter for the whole time, if things change ill let you know

Hi, I'm glad to have found another confirmed visitor! Regarding numbers of attendees, I spoke to Thorondor and he said he expressions of interest from about 20 people, though as yet only few had actually confirmed. Hopefully more of these will take the plunge as the event draws closer. Last year there was about 13 of us, with particularly strong showings from Finland and Spain, as I recall.
Did you come last year? If not, you might find this link with travel advice to Stahleck useful. It is actually for another games convention at the castle, but the advice in it is very handy.

In terms of my travel arrangements, I am flying from the UK to Frankfurt Main airport on Thursday 10th December and will take the train to Bacharach directly from the airport. I'd welcome a taxi share from the station to the castle, if you are interested. When and from where are you arriving?
Bielius and Darknight:
Sorry you can't make it, mid December is not a great time for many people, but hopefully this event will go from strength to strength and we will see you next time. I would try to tempt you with the great pictures of the event we took in 2008: a friendly bunch of Cthulhu cultists in a spooky 13th century German castle complete with suits of armour in alcoves and various medieval disembowelling tools on the walls, what could be better? but alas they were all posted on the old boards and are now lost in time and space...
Oh, I nearly forgot: just in case you haven't seen it already, here is the official FFG notification of the event taken from the news section of the FFG website.

Hey!!!
I didn't go last year (just started playing this year) but from that link I see that only has the way to get there through Frankfurt-Main.
My plane lands in Frankfurt-Hahn and the time it lands is around 15:15. How can I get to a train station from there?
Thanks!
Cheers
Ashma
I used Frankfurt Hahn last year when flying from the UK, but I don't remember the exact route I took to the castle.
Hahn is a little way outside Frankfurt, but the journey is quite easy. First you get on a bus from Hahn to the train station (I don't remember its name) this then goes to Bacharach, the local train station for Stahleck. The tourist information people at Hahn should be able to plan your route for you, they certainly helped me.
One thing I do seem to remember is that the train service is a bit limited on Sundays (I assume that is when you are leaving) , so you might want to plan your route back to Hahn as soon as you arrive and not leave it to the last moment. If there is a group of you, a taxi might be a good option as Hahn is actually quite close to Stahleck (about 35 km from memory) and then you would not have to worry about timetables. Thorondor has a good general knowledge of the transport links, so for a more detailed answer you might want to ask him.
Hope this helps,
Nomad
Hey!
When I spoke to him he really helped me, i was just trying to gather even more information. About the return I have time, since my plane is only departing Monday at 9 am. I'm going to sleep in the airport i guess xD
I would only wish that everyone that is going to Stahleck would report in so we could compare timetables and places of arrival.
Unfortunately the LCG tournament is the only one I'm not going to play because I won't be on time.
Cheers
Ashma
PS - I will add you as a friend so I can trade a couple of pm with you

Actually, the airport Frankfurt Hahn is nowhere near Frankfurt at all. It's 123 kilometres from Frankfurt am Main. This doesn't really matter, though, since, as you already mentioned, Hahn is closer to Burg Stahleck than Frankfurt a.M. would be.
Hey!
But still you have to do the bus trip and train trip to Stahleck if you get out at Frankfurt Hahn, unless there is a cab share right?

Don't have any confirmation from my buddies yet, but I'm planning to come via cars...
Will tell you more soon
Yea!
Really hope to see you there. I had better start planning my decks...
