Radical's Handbook Nearly Here?

By MILLANDSON, in Dark Heresy

Seems like it's nearly here, since Amazon just updated my delivery date for it to the 20th-24th November! Anyone else getting the same e-mail?

Mine's earlier, the 16th November, as of this morning.

Y'know, this was my (July) birthday present

I find if funny every time someone makes a Due Date thread. Years of experience with FFG means its done when its done and its out when its out. The question I would ask is, Are there going to be supplements other than adventures after Acen that we can even have threads like this about.

Yea I got a:

Fantasy Flight Games "The Radical's Handbook (Dark Heresy Rpg)"
Estimated arrival date: November 24 2009 - November 30 2009

But I'll beleive it when I see it. I've taken to not bothering thinking about when new books will come, I got obsessed with Rogue Trader for like a month desperate for snippets of info on dates. While I wait that shiny book I just distract myself with thinking up new things to subject the players too.

Hmm.... and now Amazon.co.uk have removed it from their listings and cancelled the order enfadado.gif They say their distributors aren't getting it in.... so what the hell?

Yea i'm not chuffed at this. Nice happy post from FFG announcing the Radicals Handbook is here then Amazon cancel the bleeding order!!!

Did they by any chance list the book way below the normal price? It's happened for some other books as well - they list it for the low price before it's released, then cancel the orders and list the same book for a higher price.

Complaining about it has been known to make them sell you the book for the price you ordered it for, though it probably depends on the CustServ guy handling your complaint...

To my knowledge, it was for £30, which is only slightly below the normal price, and well within the discount Amazon usually gives.

Any idea on anywhere new in the UK to get it? (Amazon cancelled my order, sad.gif )

Going to wait for Games Lore as usual but does anyone know anywhere else?

I usually get my stuff from Orc's Nest, in Earlham Street, London. They're pretty good:- http://www.orcsnest.com/ Although they don;t seem to have the book listed yet...

Myself and a friend phoned up and pretty much shouted at Amazon for a while, he got a £30 gift voucher out of it, i got an ignorant tele-sales operator constantly apologising.

The long and short of it is this - the people Amazon use to get FFG products from for UK sales no longer stock FFG products.

They wouldn't tell us who this distributor was, but having looked on FFGs list of distributors here http://app.fantasyflightgames.com/retailers-distributors.html it suggests that there are now NO distributors in the UK.

No official answer from Amazon, no official answer from FFG, both of which leave myself and the gaming club i help run in lurch - we've been loyal supporters of Dark Heresy since it's launch, and now we're pretty much being told our country isn't important enough to focus on.

Well FFG, you've just lost the country that created Games Workshop, and thus any of you products based on their Intellectual Property Rights!

United Kingdom

Cheers Jephkay, Esdevium say they have ordered in copies. This means that Amazon was in fact lying to me.

Grrr.... *blows up internet*

To throw into the mix - i called Games Workshop to ask if they have plans to stock any of the Dark Heresy/Rogue Trader line and they said that not only do they not, but that the rights are currently held by "Final Flight". I tried to correct the nubbins to Fantasy Flight Games but to no avail.

I picked this up at my FLGS near Seattle yesterday.

Or, if you would have more time some little review please?

Sweet-Emperor-on-Gold-chair I´m incredibly curious about new backround packages, origins, alternate career ranks and elite advances.

I can't really give you a true review, but here's the ToC:

INTRODUCTION

What's in this book?..........6

CHAPTER I: DARKNESS VISIBLE

The Assassin's Tale.........8

Teh Fate of Seldon.........12

Misery IX..........17

CHAPTER II: FALLING FROM GRACE

The Peers of the Imperium.........21

Defining Radicalism..........22

Ranks and Rewards..........22

Denunciations and High Conclaves..........25

Sins of the Fathers..........26

The Roots of Heresy..........26

Excommunication and Worse..........27

Dark Beginnings: Radical Origins..........28

Blighted Schola (Schola Progenium)..........28

Darkholder (Void Born)..........30

Hive Mutant (Hive World).........31

The Tainted Blood of Malfi..........34 <<<for Noble Born, but not noted as such on the actual ToC>>>

Radical Background Packages.........35

Using Background Packages.........35

Denounced and Condemned..........36 <<<psychically tainted Sororitas>>>

Heretical Sect..........36

Justice, Not Law..........37 <<<for Arbitrators, obviously>>>

Penitent..........37

Thy Name I Keep..........37 <<<you have part of a daemon's name and some pact powers>>>

Untouchable..........38 <<<revised and expanded and quite a bit more playable IMO>>>

Warp Touched..........38 <<<want From Beyond on your character? OK...>>>

Wyrd..........39 <<<one psychic power, sort of a wild talent to use an old D&D term>>>

OK there is a whole lot more, but I need to go get something to eat and head off to work. I'll try and finish up tomorrow, but hopefully someone else will have the book and take up the task.

Unholyeyeofterroronwheels, this is sweet. I think I´m falling in love at least with name of one new origin, Blighted Schola:-D And for the Backround Packages, I think there´s serious overdose of coolness here, as I can see plots and characters just from their titles. "Denounced and Condemned" seems to be third great breakthrough on theme of warp-uncorruptibility of Soritas, (minor SPOLIERS )first one is described in one particular Last Stand, second in final book of Siege of Vraks trilogy (/ SPOILERS ), "Justice not Law" I hope will fit in any fellow Recongregator cell (but maybe even in some puritan ones), and "The Name I keep" and "Warp Touched" sounds like sheer daemonic awesomness...

a message I recieved today:

My FLGS (Eclectic Games, in Reading; just opposite Reading Station) apparently will be getting them in this week. I imagine the same can be said for every store supplied by Esdevium.

I ended up ordering from Ebay yesterday gui%C3%B1o.gif .

Are you sure it wasn't a pre-order? Sometimes people on ebay do that without telling you unless you explicitly ask. I've had it happen to me. enfadado.gif
