[Careers] The Errata file

By Katsue, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

According to my count, all Careers have a total of 20 Skills and Talents per level. With the removal of the duplicates of True Grit and Paranoia, Voidmasters now have open slots at Levels 2 and 6. What should they get as replacements?

Also, Missionaries get Lightning Attack, but not the prerequisite Swift Attack. I think we can agree that they should get Swift Attack rather than losing Lightning Attack, but at what level, and what Skill or Talent should they lose in return?

Finally, Blind Fighting for Astropaths Transcendent and Independent Targeting for Voidmasters (who along with Navigators have neither the Ambidextrous nor the Two Weapon Fighting Talents) both look spectacularly useless. Any suggestions for replacements?

Personally, for the Voidmaster, I think the two most obvious missing Skills are Carouse and Trade (Astrographer). Inquiry is another one that they might reasonable have. For Talents, they lack any kind of dual wielding Talent, and any of the three big defensive Talents (Duty Unto Death, Step Aside and Wall of Steel). Other Talents that I would consider reasonable for them would be Hard Target and Master & Commander (for Bill Adama types).

Independant Targeting isn't useless for Void Masters. Put them on the weapons control-throne of a starship, and now they can put all those extra hits onto a second enemy ship once they take out the first one.

Sadly, a Macrocannon battery has more than two guns, so Independent Targeting doesn't work with one. Also, Talents that affect personal combat don't affect ship combat unless otherwise specified.

Arch Militants also lack Dual Weapon Wielder (Melee), yet have the option to pick up a talent which requires Dual Weapon Wielder (Melee) at rank 5. (or was it 6?)

I also noticed that Last Man Standing is available for Missionaries, but there is no mention of the prerequisite Nerves of Steel.

There is what appears to be a similar oversight in the Radical's Handbook for the alternate career rank 5; the Mortiurge, for the Arbitrator and their mechanically identical Last Killer Standing talent. Of course, go figure that Nerves of Steel is available in their normal rank 5 scheme of Arbitrator . So, by the RAW, a Mortiurge gets to pay 50% more to get his prerequisite for the talent. gran_risa.gif Hmmm. I don't know that anyone else has noticed this, as I haven't seen it discussed in the DH forums. I think I shall start a discussion on the matter there.

In the case of the Missionary , it would be an elite advance. How much it should cost is in question. Maybe 150% of the Last Man Standing talent for them.
