I'm trying to get my wife to play IA (mostly skirmish). She isn't a big board game/miniatures player but she did use to play a lot of Hero Academy so I think it should be a relatively easy transition. I'm looking for some good fun lists to play and a good map to play as well. I have at least one of everything with a few duplicates like sabs, wookies, and hired guns.

I know there's the core set skirmish setup but I feel like there should be better out there now with all the expansions.

You won't find THAT Setup for new players... The corebox setup is ok, you got Luke and Vader, not a bad start at all.

Just Play the models you like to Play. Balancing, etc. isn't that important at the beginning.

Maybe have her pick some characters she likes to build a list with, and then try to make an opposing team with the same number, or fewer activations. Also avoid using elite units like eSabs or eStormtroopers. Might make the game pretty balanced for a first time player.
