Going to be going to a friends house this weekend. Have about 6 guys coming over. Going to introduce them to X-Wing. They have varied experience with miniature games. What lists would you have pre-built for new guys.
Beginners Lists
Something simple without a lot of repositioning or multiple actions.
I'd say you want to go for some relatively simple ships, e.g X-Wings and regular TIEs. Probably stay away from specialized ships like K-Wings and Phantoms.
When I did a Learn to Play at my LGS I used smaller points to start with. Basically just the starter sets. I had some other lists built for them to look at, but they learned the game with 2 or 3 ships with no upgrades. I know there were several set ups, but it was around 50pts. One of the games we played was Luke Skywalker and Rookie Pilot vs Mauler Mithel and 2 black squadron pilots.
I ran the learn to plays over several days and each day we added more points via upgrades and other ships until we were around 100pts. I made sure not to tell people if something was traditionally "good" or "bad" until they had a chance to play with it.
Sounds good. Basically I'm being lazy and outsourcing the list building. Also it saves me from the why did you build me a crap list. I can just say it is what was suggested. I have One of each core and expansion minus the two huge Imperial ships.
