It's real, and it's fun, and it's maneuverable and it's accurate on the offense.
That said, people are running VI Poe with regeneration droids instead, because there's a larger variety of aces that it can move after. They're also a safer places to put your points, as they're harder to kill.
From what I've seen and read on the forums, weapons guidance isn't really worth taking on Poe because of his innate ability. By using the focus with his ability, you should get more utility both on offense and defense. Push the limit and BB8 are okay with Poe but R5-P9 or R2-D2 are seen more often in play (my opinion). Again, R5-P9 synergizes with Poe's ability and regen on an ace is worthwhile. If you don't have R5-P9 or R2-D2, BB8 isn't a bad option. When in doubt, might as well fly it and see how it goes.
CB & Storm,
Thanks for the insight.

The problem is now you are looking at 40-42 points for him which means you'd need to find some fat to cut elsewhere.

Weapons Guidance is amazing on Poe if you can afford the 2 extra points. Poe gets more out of it than any other pilot because of his ability. If you know that Poe isn't going to get shot at again in the round and you don't need to feed R5-P9 a focus token to restore a shield, spending the focus to turn "hit, hit, eyeball, blank" into 4 hits is money. From what I've seen and read on the forums, weapons guidance isn't really worth taking on Poe because of his innate ability. Fair point on Weapons Guidance. To your point, I guess I always found something else to invest those 2 points in. I might need to try it out sometime. Cheers!
WWHSD,
What about dropping the PTL (3), and BB8(2)
for Auto thrusters(2) and R5-P9?
I like the extra actions but having the auto thrusters and shield regeneration does make sense. Thanks
That's how I fly my Poe with Auto and R5P9. Fly aggressively and if you have to spend your focus do so, but don't rely on it that much of a crutch. Very fun build.
Just don't get caught at range 1 of Carnor Jax before using the focus action, thats how I got rid of a regen Poe in the first round of firing exchange. (:

I did the same in the second exchange in one of my matches, except I managed to make him bump. With Carnor. At range 1 of Redline. With Cluster Missiles. And two target locks from FCS the previous round.
I felt a little cruel.
Alright, I'm going to try it out. With AT and R5-P9.
Gotta go find a Star Viper.
Thanks
He is too legit... too legit to quit.
He is MC Hammer.
