Ouch - 2 Ship Scum vs Y TLTs and Dash

By NiallJC1984, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Wow - just lost two battles against a Dash Outrider and two Y TLTs.

I really underestimated the TLT.

I was flying Emon Azameen and IG88B. First battle I had Emon in Andrasta with a few bombs. Too much points spent and only one bomb used before he was taken out. Second battle I swapped him into Slave 1 and gave him Extra Munitions for 2 Conner Nets. Although I managed to land one on Dash and the other on both Y's, I felt the effect was somewhat underwhelming. I lost that game too.

Overall some fairly sketchy flying on my part didn't help, but the two Y's just didn't need to do much to whittle down the firespray or aggressor.

I'm considering going to a fast small ship list. Possibly interceptors to close down to range one ASAP. My only problem would be possibly not landing enough attack dice to take out a Y on first pass.

Dash in Outrider also gives another 360 degree cannon to worry about...

So what's the current anti TLT Meta? Fast small ships or tanks to slug it out? Or do you throw TLT vs TLT and hope the dice gods favour you?

PS in second battle the agressor rolled countless blanks on the agility dice so the dice gods truly hated me tonight.

Lot's of green dice and Autothrusters is really the only defense against TLT. Two of your Aggressors can work too.

What he said.

However K4 and clusters on emon should allow you to take out a Y wing first pass along with the HLC shots. If your gonna run emon I feel proximities are best. I usually run 2 prox 1 proton but 3 prox works too if you see lots of swarm.

TLT's are vicious and usually hit at PS 2, so you have likely already used your tokens defending against bigger fish earlier in the phase.

There is a reason they are one of the dominant forces in the meta presently.

Yeah I can see why.

I don't have two Agressors unfortunately. So I'm playing around with either a fast interceptor style list with...something. I don't know. Decimator with 0 agility seems like slow suicide vs the TLTs. Shuttle maybe to give the interceptors some support.

On the Rebel side I suppose I could throw a somewhat mirrored list with some TLTs in it.

Having been on the receiving end of total it is pretty harsh. However if you tool up Emon with proton bombs he can cut through shields to give a critical. Failing that once the new tractor beams come out you can try and throw the y-wings around to give you extra defence dice or cause chaos.

Not sure there is an easy way of not taking hits especially with the amount of dice used to get the hits.

I think using agile big ships can work and taking them out early too.

If you just want something to hate on TLTs take a starviper they're excellent in that roll. Guri with autothrusters, sensor jammer and predator can almost solo the whole list by herself.

I'll maybe try that with a Y TLT or something hehe.

Now that I've faced it thought I'm determined to try and find a list to combat it without resorting to such ridiculous gimmicky weapons :P

What do you think of a Target Lock Shuttle list (durability) and a couple of Interceptors to hopefully close to range 1 quickly? I'd possibly be relying on some fancy flying to put obstacles inbetween the Y TLTs and my Interceptors to begin with, but it could maybe work. My only concern is with trying to strip off 8 hull points effectively on the Ys...

Soontir Fel
Push the Limit
Autothrusters
Stealth Device
Royal Guard TIE

Royal Guard Pilot
Push the Limit
Autothrusters
Stealth Device

Royal Guard TIE

Colonel Jendon
Fire-Control System
Engine Upgrade
ST-321

I've also attempted a Scum list following advice above - it actually uses two Ys with TLT so would just be a case of slugging it out...

Guri
Predator
Advanced Proton Torpedoes
Sensor Jammer
"Hot Shot" Blaster
Autothrusters
Virago

Syndicate Thug
Twin Laser Turret
Unhinged Astromech

Syndicate Thug
Twin Laser Turret

Unhinged Astromech

Edit: with a 360degree turret, Unhinged Astromech is potentially a waste of time... I'll probaby just put on the target lock astromech instead on one of them and leave it at 99 points.

I think Emon and IG88B can make a pretty effective pair:

Emon w/ K4 droid, slave-1, extra munitions, homing missiles & conner net = 50

IG88B w/ crack shot, FCS, HLC, glitterstim & autothrusters = 50

Either ship can devastate aces, and if they get behind you (or even to the side with Emon's funky bomb drops) you can smack 'em with a conner net making them easily gunned down in the following turn.

When guidance chimps are out of the cage, you can add that to Emon ensuring he never gets less than 4 hits/crits with his missiles (and no evade token allowed!)

Try this build...

Boba Fett

+ Veteran Instincts

+ Tactician

+ Glitterstim

+ Engine Upgrade

IG-88B

+ Crack Shot

+ Fire Control Systems

+ Heavy Laser Cannon

+ Glitterstim

+ Autothrusters

In the matchup you described, I'd put all your firepower on Dash. You should be able to burn him down pretty fast with this build. If he is HLC Dash, then you can boost Boba into range 1 where Dash can't fire back. Even if you trade Boba for Dash, IG should easly be able to kill the Y-Wings.

Also, this build is 98 points. Feel free to add a seismic charge on Boba if you don't care about the initiative bid. You should be able to get a little extra damage on the Y's with it.

Thanks for the updates folks, my only regret is that I don't have Crack Shot or Glitterstim yet so I'd probably go with VI and something else.

I'll give it a bash.

My main problem with the Firespray/IG list was how to deploy. I kept on getting in the way of my own ships so need to be more clever with the deployment and movement.

I'll modify the above list to include a couple of the ugprades I do have access to.

Thank you :)

Dash + conners = dead Dash

dead any high value ship, really, provided you can follow up

emon's weird ass ability requires a lot of practice, though, and it would've been easier to just go double igs

aggressors w/thrusters can deal with TLT without much issue, unless they can also inflict stress

Any IG with Sensor Jammer are can be a pain to hit with anything, including TLT. They also have enough health to survive the fickle green dice.

This gives up FCS to be tougher to hit, but it can work well as IGB's ability compensates for the lack of offense some. I also like IG 88A instead of C to regenerate shields to make them even more durable.

Painful experience leads me to respectfully disagree. People counter TLT by closing to range 1. Unhinged lets you swing out wide and keep the distance while executing a green. I never let my Scum TLTs leave home without it!

Hi folks!

Right - 1 loss 1 victory tonight.

My first list, Emon with Slave 1, Extra Munitions, Conner Net, K4 & Homing Missiles. IG88B with VI, Autothrusters, Sensor Jammer and HLC. I managed to drop Conner Net twice ok but tbh I don't feel it had a significant effect so don't think I'd bother again. Not when the TLT's made fairly quick work of him. I didn't get much out the IG either.

Second list I took Starviper with Sensor Jammer, Autothrusters, Hot Shot Blaster, Predator and Adv Homing Missiles. Also had two Syndicate Thug Y's with TLT and Unhinged Astro. Waldorf you're right - saved my bacon a few times with that tight 3!

Won't bother with Adv missiles again as I didn't get it off, he survived the whole game though. Hot shot came in useful. I could have saved points by not using the missiles and getting something else.

Much better game, close one though, The TLT's and Viper made short work of dash. The it was just a case of Y's slugging it out. Thanks for your help and advice today :)

My next aim is to find a good list to beat TLT's without resorting to using them myself!
