Rules clarification from Saturday's session

By eckostate, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

This makes our fourth mission played. Still new and still learning.

A) With alternating turns, heroes can activate twice on their turn and do any of these:

1) move + attack

2) attack + attack

3) move + move

4) any + manipulate items/doors/etc

on their turn they move and move, with a movement of 4 they can move 8 spaces (not encluding movement by straining)?

B) a 'round' (when all heroes and empire has had their turns) is when the empire player gets threat? I was empire and sitting with 2-3 rounds with maybe 6 threat if that and only had a Imp. Officer on the board, running... I couldn't do anything. I'm wondering when threat is given to the empire. I just seemed helpless so I wanted to know if after everyone has went once (we have 5 players) I then receive my threat?

Thanks (there is one more but I can't think of it atm)

A) you are mixing activate and action. Each figure receives two actions during their activation (unless changed by a mission rule).

- heroes can use both actions for actions that contain one or more attacks. Other figures may only use one action that contains one or more attacks per activation.

- each speacial action can only be performed once during an activation

- Move action does not move the figure. Move action gives movement points according to Speed. Movement points can be spent before or after each of the actions, but not during them to move the figure.

- Heroes can take 1 strain for 1 movement point upto twice during their activation (unless they have strain upto their endurance).

- Heroes can spend an unevaded surge to recover 1 strain per attack. (See Recover. If the hero has not suffered strain, for each strain not recovered the hero recovers damage instead.)

B) See the steps of the Status phase.

1.Increase threat (according to Threat Level)

2.Ready

3.Deploy / Reinforce

4.End of round effects

5.Increase round dial

In the deploy/reinforce step you can either deploy a card from your hand or reinforce figures.

What do you mean by the bolded? If a hero has 5 speed, it could:

1) Use a move action to acquire 5 movement points

2) Move 2 spaces

3) Use an attack action to attack an enemy figure

4) Move 3 spaces

Edited by KalEl814

The Move action finishes immediately after giving the movement points. You can then spend none or any number of them before the next action.

You can't start an action and then spend movement points during it. (And if movement points are received out of your activation or part of a special action, you need to spend those movement points immediately or they are lost.)

1) Spend an action to move, gaining 5 movement points.

2) Spend 2 movement points to move 2 spaces (assumes no hostile figures or difficult terrain which costs extra)

3) Spend an action to attack

4) Spend 3 movement points to move upto 3 spaces.

Or.

1) take 2 strain to gain 2 movement points.

2) spend 1 movement point to move 1 space ...

3) spend an action to attack. Use an unevaded surge to recover 1 strain

4) spend 1 movement point to move 1 space...

5) spend an action to attack. Use an unevaded surge to recover 1 strain

End the activation with no extra strain, having attacked twice and moved 2 spaces.

He means you can't spend the movement points in the middle of an action. For example, with vader, you canNOT

1) Use a move action to acquire 4 movement points

2) Move 2 spaces

3) Use brutality to attack an enemy figure

4) Move 2 spaces

5) Perform the second attack allowed by brutality

Or attack with Garkhaan, move a space, and then cleave someone.

Ah yes, good point. Wouldn't have occurred to me to try that.
