Thanks.
I believe they reversed their decision on 3rd party items a while ago. I think it's all legal now.
Yes, third-party maneuver templates are currently legal.
Still kinda boggling that FFG doesn't sell their own acrylic tokens/maneuver templates. I mean they have tokens in the seasonal tourney kits and they used to provide maneuver templates for worlds yet they don't sell them. Bit of a strange strategy imo.
Yes. Although the other person can request that both players share a single set of templates, those could be yours or his/hers.
Also the TO has the discretion to bar any 3rd party tools someone has. So it's a good idea to have a set of the cardboard ones with you just in case.
But most people I've seen have some sort of 3rd party templates they use.

I think they want to keep their acrylic stuff for tournament/game night kits so they're special.
I guess that makes sense but I still wish they sold those evade tokens. I love me some evade tokens.
I certainly hope they are legal since I've been using a set at tournaments (engraved with "Fly Casual" BTW) for nearly 2 years now.
On another note, my go to place for basic tokens in acrylic is Greenman Designs (http://www.gdesignsinc.com/).
A great assortment of colors to choose from and they come painted as well.

Correct, so long as you also allow your opponent to use them if they so request.
Just wanted to add this because I've seen people make statements based on misunderstanding what the rules actually say.
Either person has the right to request that a single set of templates and rulers be used. They can use either persons set, and the TO has final say who's get used if the players can't agree.
But what you cannot do is, require that the other person use a cardboard set from core set. The TO/Judge can tell someone that their 3rd party templates aren't allowed, and they'd have to replace them with something the TO approves of.
