Was wondering which of these two lists people think would work better, and if there are any obvious flaws. The first list is:
149 ISD2 w/ Needa, Gunnery, Tractor Beam, Countermeasures, Leading Shot, Relentless.
103 VSD1 w/ Motti, Tractor Beam.
64 Gladiator 1 w/ APT, Insidious.
52 Raider 1 w/ Ruthless Strategists, Impetuous
32 (4x) TIEs
TOTAL = 400pts.
The ISD2 is pretty self explanatory and is acting as the heavy hitting anvil, which is paired with the VSD1 to capitalize upon the double tractor beams being able to slow down annoying 'gankers' like assault frigates. The Gladiator is acting as a cheap, but hard hitting flanker/chaser, with Insidious title rather than Demolisher to save points and also punish opponents that show it their butt. Finally the Raider and TIEs are on anti-squadron duty protecting the ISD and VSD from squadrons early on. Once the TIEs are dead I'm hoping the Raider can mop up any remaining fighters, with it's ridiculously good anti-squadron armament and extra Impetuous shot and Ruthless Strategist bonus damage.
Possible changes are swapping out Assault Proton Torpedoes on the Gladiator and Ruthless Strategists, on the Raider for Ordinance Experts on both. Also I'm not sure if the TIEs and Raider are enough anti-squadron, or if I should be investing a few more points in more/different fighters?
The second list is:
118 VSD1 w/ Motti, Needa, Gunnery, Tractor Beam, XI7.
92 VSD1 w/ Gunnery, Tractor Beam, XI7.
68 Gladiator 1 w/ Ordnance Experts, APT, Insidious.
52 Raider 1 w/ Ordnance Experts, Impetuous.
26 Boba.
23 Bossk.
21 IG88.
TOTAL = 400pts.
This list has a very similar concept to the first, with the two VSD1s acting as the 'anvil' that catches ships with tractor beams then closes to smoosh them at close range. The Raider is again on squadron-swatting duty, and the gladiator is in the same flanking role. Instead of a measly 4xTIEs this list has spent some extra points to swap in three deadly bounty hunters. I figure the bounty hunters are a good fit because they're very independent of the big ships and can wreck-face against both ships and squadrons even with no squadron commands. The only thing I'm not sure on is if Motti is the right commander, or if I should ditch Needa and go with Screed. Another option is to lose the gunnery teams and XI7s from the VSD1s to make them VSD2s instead to give me some ranged punch.
Any thoughts on either of these list would be greatly appreciated!
