Furball Multiplayer Format

By Phoenix8472, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Question for the Hive Mind.

We recently tried the Furball multiplayer format for the first time and it was awesome, totally recommended!

But does anyone else who plays have a good way for determining initiative if multiple players have ships of the same pilot skill?

And since it is a "one ship at a time" on the board, would you have initiative staying the same or would you change/reroll when new ships of the same PS arrive on the board?

Thanks for your thoughts

Initiative should stay with whoever has it for the duration of the game.

Decide initially the way the rules suggest (coin flip [we use a dice]) and keep it the whole time.

Personally, I go with "Points -> High-roll -> Clockwise".

That is to say, in a 30 point furball, everyone with a 29 point ship rolls a die to determine who has initiative among them, and then it proceeds around the table clockwise. Similarly for the 30 point ships, who follow.

Initiative should stay with whoever has it for the duration of the game.

We decided who had initiative as two players had their first ship at the same PS

The player with initiative had their ship killed and brought on a different PS ship that didn't tie with any other player (so initiative seems irrelevant at that point)

Then a different player lost their first ship and their second ship was then tied on PS with a third player who wasn't involved in the original initiative decision so who would have initiative between them?

Just coin toss or dice at the beginning of the game to establish an initiative order, and then it stays like that regardless of what ship gets destroyed. If you've got 3 or four players, decide randomly for who has top initiative, then it descends in order going clockwise round the group.

But the order shouldn't change during the game, because that just gets confusing if you do that. Either way, it's imperative you establish an order for EVERY player, not just one.
