Zeta Leader and Yorr

Is it possible for Zeta leader to draw two stress and increase his attack by two dice with Yorr siphoning off the stress?

I was thinking of a list where ZL with wired takes two stress to increase primary to 4 dice or 5 at range 1 and Yorr siphons off one stress allowing ZL the second stress to benefit the Wired EPT. There is no reason that Yorr cannot take both stress except he would be unable to repeat the process in the next round.

There seems to be no conflict in the timing of this as Yorr's only limitation is he cannot have more than two stress and there is no limitation I can see on ZL beyond not being stressed to take another stress.

When attacking, if you are not stressed, you may receive 1 stress token to roll 1 additional attack die.

When another friendly ship at Range 1-2 would receive a stress token, if you have 2 or fewer stress tokens, you may receive that token instead.

No, for a couple of reasons.

Abilities can only trigger once per opportunity. The opportunity here is "when attacking". If you had multiple attacks and a way to ditch stress between them, you could trigger the ability once for each attack.

If Yorr intercepts the stress token then Zeta Leader does not get the extra attack die.

FAQ, pg. 7:

"Captain Yorr
If, through his pilot ability, Captain Yorr
intercepts a stress token that is part of the
cost of triggering an ability on another ship
(such as Soontir Fel or Opportunist), that
ability’s effect does not resolve."
Zeta Leader's ability is worded similarly to both of the examples given. If Zeta Leader never receives the stress token, he doesn't get the benefit. However, Yorr would still get a stress token out of the deal.

It's already been established in the FAQ that if Yorr intercepts a stress intended to trigger an ability, then the ability will not trigger. Soontir was the primary example and will not gain a focus if that happens.

Zeta Leader's ability is also spelled out to indicate only 1 stress to add 1 dice, so the wording would support you can not receive more than 1 stress or add more than one dice.

Also, because "What IF the rules were different to make <this> broken?" questions are becoming somewhat common, ZL would - if the OP statement were true (and to be clear it is not) - be able to increase his attack value by 4 if he could trigger his ability until he was stressed and Yorr was within Range 1-2 with zero stress tokens assigned to him. Yorr's ability: "When another friendly ship at Range 1-2 would receive a stress token, if you have 2 or fewer stress tokens, you may receive that token instead." This means you would have been able to trigger ZL's ability (attack value 3), Yorr is now at 1 stress. Trigger ZL's ability (attack value 4), Yorr is now at 2 stress and (see bold) may still trigger his ability one more time. Trigger ZL's ability (attack valie 5), Yorr is now at 3 stress and may not trigger his ability until he clears at least 1 stress token. Trigger ZL's ability (attack value 6). Now add in Range bonuses, let's say we're at Range 1 (for giggles): so ZL attacks The Ghost with 7 attack dice and seriously ruins someone's day. And that folks is why the FAQ and rules are as they are! This isn't Star Trek: Attack Wing (which I do play), we're not allowed to have seriously overpowered combos!

THIS IS A WHAT IF and is therefore not permitted by the FAQ or RAW, please do not get bent out of shape over the above and/or argue that I am wrong. The above is 100% wrong and I am fully aware of this reality.

Let's assume you equip a hull/shield upgrade and have taken no damage yet. You thus have 10 health you could "spend" to ignore a stress token. Add in the three tokens you may equip to your ship. Now add in the one stress token ZL gets for him/herself. Because we're as giggly as a grapefruit let's say we're at Range 1 again! So 2 natural + range 1 + 14 instances of triggering ZL's pilot ability = 17 total attack dice. Better have a target lock + focus combo, would hate to miss!!!

Better drag the dice roll app out for that. I don't have that many dice. :)

edit: actually, going to open the app and see how many dice I actually CAN roll. Ha!
