F&D characters more powerful than EoTE/AoR characters

By Ahadiel, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

It's all about taste. Shadows are magical space ninjas. Sleight of Mind is a magical space ninjaness thing. It's more flavor.

My character is a space ninja because he's a Sentinel Shadow spec? Wow ninjas rule and pirates drool!

In play, the AOR characters have not been overwhelmed by the force users.

Combat wise, yes, force users are very slightly more powerful than equivalent points-and-cash Edge/Age characters... but not so much so as to overwhelm the others.

But they are neither invincible nor as versatile as many edge/age characters of the same earned experience. (By 1000 experience points, everyone starts to look pretty over the top.)

I roll up a force user from F&D, and I'm pretty stoked about the possibilities, seems cool. Roll up a non force user, and I'm like, eh....

Is it perhaps that just the idea of playing a Force user is more appealing to you?

Wait...how? Or was this at the 1k xp tier? At what point did the Force users pass the Marauder or the Gadgeteer? I am just curious. I have not focused on combat myself, my characters are usually support or face types because I love to chat up a game :)

I've seen a wookie with a double digit soak and a WT over 20... and only brawn 5.

By 1K, what a jedi can do is frighteningly potent... but it still doesn't get you from Tatooine to Alderaan. And it won't take out that Sil 9 cruiser at long range that's dumping 100 WT worth of damage at you... but the Pilot is able to make it nearly impossible to get hit. ;)
