Seems fine; how much XP did you begin with? Given that, it might have been better to put the initial XP into attributes; Chiss can begin with 3, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2.

Chiss are pretty rare - what's his background? I don't know their Force traditions, if they even have any.

Our Chiss pretty makes up all kinds of nonsense when anyone asks her about her past, each lie more outlandish than the last.

We started with the standard 100 XP then our GM gave us an additional 100 XP to bring us up to be close to Knight level. Here's his background.

Hess’nea’kema, “Sneake”, was born into the Hess family as the younger of twin brothers. His biological parents took them on a diplomatic mission and their ship was beset by pirates that ultimately resulted in its destruction. Before the ship was destroyed, their parents ejected them in the escape pod and floated in space until an Incom Corporation luxury yacht happened upon them. The yacht was owned by Jerrik and Mara Bess. Jerrick serves on the board of directors for Incom as Vice President of Corporate Security. Together, they adopted the two infants and raised them as their own children.
Growing up he was fascinated with the ancient lore of the Je’daii Order on Tython. At one year of age, he discovered that he was force sensative and could see flashes of the future. His parents secretly hired a former Jedi padawan, Merrin Goush, to teach them both the basics of the force. The teaching occurred in a secret location on Fresia that was steeped in the Force which prevented them from being discovered by the Empire. Merrin Goush eventually was discharged from training Sneake and Sharke because they had learned all they could from her. Her current whereabouts are unknown to the two brothers.
When he enlisted into Incom Corporate Security, he showed an excellent aptitude for infiltrating mission objectives and was removed from his standard infantry unit into special operations. There he was trained as an infiltrator and given basic instuction by his mentor on how to use the Force to help perform his missions. He still maintains contact with his former commanding officer in order to deliver data and receive specialized equipment.
After serving his term in the military, he and his brother decided to strike out on their own and attempt to make a living using the YV-560 Light Freighter. They earned the freighter from a mission given to them by their father to rescue Incom scientists and recover Incom property. He is hoping one day that he and his brother will be able to explore Tython. This way they can gain knowledge and insight into the Force as the Je’daii believed.
Due to the honor and discipline that was instilled in Sneake while in the military, he cares little for the Empire and regards them as a threat to his and his brother’s safety. He is willing to help the Rebel Alliance through the transfer of data about Imperial movements and other secrets. His other favorite targets are criminals and other corporations and willing to work different criminal organizations in the hopes it will weaken them. In the case of other corporations, it is to steal their secrets and relay them back to Incom.
Sneake is very close to his brother and shares a deep bond that is strengthened by the Force.

That seems to fit well.

The Chiss are pretty much an unknown in this era so they could basically be almost anything.

Thank you for the input Maelora. I'll see if the GM will let myself and Sharke's player respec since they are our first characters built with the system. When I originally made my character and helped with Sharke, I thought you could buy attributes after the fact. Ooopss a mistake on my part. My GM is pretty lenient so I'm sure he'll let us do a respec.

For a one-shot, it's not a bad idea to do what you did.

For a longer campaign, character creation is the only place you can buy attributes, so it's a good idea to use your XP for this.

I'd buy talents and skills with the knight level XP, and spend the initial stuff on stats. Especially as he seems an all-rounder kind of guy, and could use a few 3's to generally be competent in many different areas.

But the character's fine, this game has no 'one true way' of making good characters... thankfully!

Thanks Maelora for the advice. I got permission to respec my character and posted the changes in the first post. :)

That feels a lot more well-rounded.

Although it was perfectly playable the first time, of course.

Here is an updated character sheet of Sneake. I'm quite proud of the progress I've made with him.

He's coming on quite nicely. Lots of powers.

That's a huge amount of money though! And... a dozen ships?

I do like the Diplomat's outfits though :)

Thank you. I'm getting a kick out of playing him. Did you read the latest installment in the campaign summary?

The money is a drop in the bucket compared to what they have in their company Twin Industry. It has 1.6 million and we have responsibilities like feeding people, construction, etc...

The ships belong to the Tythonian Government, which incidentally is controlled by Sharke and Sneake as co-emperor's of the Tython System. :D All total we've now got 4 corvettes and something like 4 squadrons of fighters plus two light freighters. The army consists of 2,768 Trooper War Droids and 678 Senior Trooper War Droids.

I like them as well. Sneake is a clothes fashionista.

I really liked the diplomat outfits. I wish that 'Lead By Example' did the same thing for uniforms. A lot of real-world militaries had designers to work on their outfits, and 'looking cool' was part of the aesthetic.

Also we don't see a lot of armour in Star Wars films, unless it's part of a disguise or for environmental reasons. Things like the diplomat's outfits seem more fitting, like Han or Leia's Bespin costumes.

Exactly how much money and power a PC should have is something that we always argue about. The one EOE group pretty much lives hand to mouth, running a small smuggler business, with a repair shop and krayt dragon farm on the side. The AOR group pretty much works behind enemy lines and has to fund itself most of the time. Our two explorers are sponsored by Czerka.

I have been giving consideration to letting a player play someone really high up the totem pole, someone who would have access to fleets and companies and the like; a character who would focus on 'behind the scenes' play. Interesting to see what you've done with that, with the fleets and armies. Are they likely to get a work out with the Mass Combat rules, I wonder?

In our games, just because Sharke and Sneake are the top dogs doesn't mean that we're not on the front lines. They do a lot of behind the scenes work like making deals with companies etc... but that only adds to the overall epicness of the story. It also means that we have a positive impact on our neck of the woods. Take, for example, the last session of the group. Big space battle between the Rakata and Tythonian Fleet while at the same time Sneake was helping the new colonists from the Thor Yor adjust to being 30k years in the future. A majority of the new residents of Tython view Sneake as a messiah-like figure because of his explanation of the history plus giving them the option to pursue their dreams.

Our GM does the old standby of narrating the battle and how it flows based upon how well the PCs do. PCs do really well then their forces also do well. If the PCs don't do well then the forces don't do well.

That's sort of how we do it, that's normally how I do it in in, say, fantasy games.

But we're expressly considering a PC who isn't the kind who leads the troops with a blaster in hand, the equivalent of a Churchill figure, someone like Mon Mothma or Bail Organa.

Which is why we are waiting for the Commander book, to go with the Strategist or Figurehead careers.

Your examples are pretty cool though - are Rakata around in the OR era? I vaguely recall they were pretty much a 'lost race' in KotOR? Interesting culture though.

Makes sense on waiting. Do whatever you think works best. For us, it's hilarious that when Sharke or Sneake try to make deals as leaders and they definitely lack the skills in negotiation.

They were a lost race in 2 months ABY which is when we're playing. It really surprised me to have them show up, but they aren't force sensitive as they lost that ability.

Here is the latest version of Sneake. His armor is completely custom using the armor crafting rules from Keeping the Peace. It also adheres to the limits placed on the Stealth mods. I'm trying to decide if I should master a force power or get dedication in the Shien Expert spec.
