2v2

By HistoryGuy, in X-Wing

I'm sure there's a thousand topics here on this, but how do you do 2v2 and what list do you fly?

In our fight we played on a 6'X 3' play area with each team setting up on the long sides. The Rebels and Empire CANNOT be on the same team. Scum acts more as mercenaries and can side with anyone (whoever doesn't have a partner). Any abilities that target friendly players can be used on your whole team. Each player gets 100 points to form his squadron.

In our game I used rebels, my fiancee used empire, and the other two used scum. So it was rebel/scum vs. Imperial/scum.

My list was:

Z-95 Headhunter: •Airen Cracken (25)

Wingman (2)

Cluster Missiles (4)

T-70 X-Wing: •Poe Dameron (38)

Outmaneuver (3)

•R2-D2 (4)

E-Wing: •Etahn A'baht (36)

Expert Handling (2)

R7 Astromech (2)

Total: 99/100

The ability to give extra actions with Airen and change hits to crits with Etahn turned out to be the abilities that won the battle.

We usually play 2v2 matches on a 3x3 play area. On a 6x3, you tend to end up with two very loosely associated battles instead of a big melee.

For Rebels, I'd bring generic B-Wings and Y-Wings. For Imperials, Lambda Shuttles and cheap TIEs. For Scum, IG-8000.

The thinking is: with 200 points of enemy ships on the board, it's really easy to melt any one ship that you choose to concentrate on. So don't bother with spendy aces. Just bring cheap tanky ships or cheap evasive ships so that you're not badly hampered if you lose a couple of them quickly.

Unless you're Scum. You always bring all the bros when you can afford to.

It's been a while, but we had some success with my 100 pt. list of Etahn a'Baht+3 rookies, coupled with a Chewbo list. It had a kind of 'hammer and anvil' effect.
