Asteroid and debris images

By meldon, in X-Wing

I don't suppose there is a full scale image of the Obstacles anywhere on line?

All I really need is the Silhouettes if anyone knows where there is a pdf or image.

Thanks

I was told once that the raider debris doesnt count as normal debris and is a mission specific thing. Is that true?

Yes. The debris from the Raider expansion is not mentioned in the tournament rules and is not a valid choice for your 3 tournament obstacles.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Actually, the Epic tournament rules state, "Each player places six unique obstacle tokens, gathered from any X-Wing product..." which some are interpreting as allowing the Raider debris tokens for the Epic format only.

This is not an "interpretation" it is the actual rule: (Page 2 Tournament Rules)

5. Each player places their three unique asteroids and/or debris cloud tokens next to the play area to form a pool of six obstacles. The player with initiative chooses one of these tokens and places it into the play area. Then, the other player chooses one of the remaining tokens and places it into the play area. The players continue to alternate until all six tokens have been placed. An obstacle token cannot be placed at Range 1–2 of any edge of the play area or at Range 1 of another obstacle token.

That doesn't specify what tokens are considered obstacles though.

Does the raider rule book say the tokens are not considered obstacles for standard games??

Not really, I'll get to that later...

Each player places their three unique asteroids and/or debris cloud tokens next to the play area to form a pool of six obstacles. The player with initiative chooses one of these tokens and places it into the play area. Then, the other player chooses one of the remaining tokens and places it into the play area. Each player must include exactly three unique obstacle tokens of their choice in their squad. Players must select these obstacles from the twelve asteroids included in the two core sets and the six debris clouds included in the YT- 2400 and VT-49 Decimator expansion packs. A player may not select two of the same asteroid or debris cloud.

So even if they are "obstacles", they're not currently legal for standard tournaments.

Each player must bring an X-Wing core set and any additional components he needs for his squad. This includes but is not limited to dice, a range ruler, maneuver templates, asteroid tokens, and a complete Damage deck. Until January 1st, 2016, players may choose to use either the original Damage deck or the new Damage deck from The Force Awakens core set. Starting January 1st, 2016, players are required to use The Force Awakens Damage deck exclusively for non-Huge ships. A player cannot bring more than one copy of each asteroid token. The TO is not expected to supply any game components to players.

Each player places six unique obstacle tokens, gathered from any X-Wing product, next to the play area, for a total of 12 obstacles. Then, the player with initiative chooses two of these obstacle tokens and places them into the play area at the same time, within range 1 of each other but not at Range 1–2 of either player edge. Then, the opposing player chooses two of the remaining obstacle tokens and places them into the play area at the same time, within Range 1 of each other but not at Range 1–2 of either player edge or any previously-placed obstacle token. The players continue to alternate in this way until all 12 tokens have been placed.

So anything that's an "obstacle" is legal for Epic tournaments (subject to TO approval). (Also, a literal reading of the Epic rules would require you to bring all of the components from a core set, even if you don't need them, lol.) So the question (as you said) is then whether or not the three tokens in the raider box are "obstacles". Unless I missed it, the only mention of them in the Raider Rulebook is in the component list, and even there they're just part of the "13 Mission Tokens". In the Mission Booklet however:

Huge Ship Debris Clouds: Huge ship debris clouds follow all the rules for debris clouds (see page 2).

[Debris cloud rules, no mention of the huge ship debris clouds]

So I guess it depends on whether or not the Mission Booklet can be considered for rules when not playing one of the missions from it, and even then, should the Special Rules from one mission be considered? I'm personally for the Huge Ship Debris being valid for Epic play, but it's a stretch for the rules to support it currently. (Obviously you can do whatever both players agree on for casual play.)
