My favorite was that Imperial Tech guy in the grey uniform with the big helmet. I don't know why I liked him so much, but he was the most effective Imperial stooge I had.
Unexpected feeling when selling hobby stuff
Nah the mid-late 2000's action figs I'd agree was a golden age.
revisiting the OT. 40K keeps pulling me back in. Not mainline 40K, but the universe. Eternal Crusade, Dawn of War 2, Gothic Armada, the FFG RPGs. Hell. I still enjoy oldhammer and killteam.

X-Wing pilot for me. No idea why but he was just so **** cool. It has carried over to modern days too. I have about 20 lego variants of them.
I sold some 70s SW stuff at auction and promptly bought the EoTE core, splatbooks, F&D, Xwing starter box and about 10 ships. Kind of like for like really
I felt a pang of sadness TBH but they were just taking up space at my parents house
similar feeling when i went to an IPMS model show a bought a bunch of 1/72 scale aircraft kits from an older gentlemen. He said he just had too many kits to build and not enough time. Made me kind of sad for him then i recently looked at my 1/72 scale stash of aircraft and figured out that if i live to be about 130 i might be able to build and finish them all... I dont care what the wife says they still look cool in the boxes all stacked up in my hobby room. "War room" is what we call it. also got all my X-wing stuff in there as well and the gaming main frame!

I have less storage space than I'd like at my place. Ideally you'lld want your games to be easily accesable, maybe even ordered (alphabetical, theme, etc.) Mine are sorted by weight: Heaviest on the bottom because otherrwise they'll colapse the upper shelves. (stupid IKEA) and they are stacked like some kind of Tetris fever dream and retrieving certain games requires excavating half a dozen other ones who are in front/on top of them.
Still not gonna get of them tough... yet.

How heavy are those games an Expedit or Kallax can't carry them?
Those ultramegabig 100 euros games. Then you open it and...50% of nothing. If you purchase some expansion you can arrange one or two in the Basic box. But often that ultrabigmegabox must be filled with minigames, trading cards, a Rhino or two...
I HATE ultramegabig boxes. At least our beloved X wing Basic Sets are quite "full".
And sometimes I found a lost Playboy special at the bottom. Hello Erika Eleniak !!! A long time, dear...

yeah I should prolly get a new closet, currently my games are in repurposed IKEA closet meant for clothes. One day the top shelf gave way and fell on the next one wich also gave way and the one underneath also gave but had nowhere left to fall as it was now resting on my back issues of white dwarf and inquest (all of them since the 90's)* Bear in mind those shelves are held in place with lil metal rods in sockets. And my lack of space has me cramming as much expansions in the main game box as I can. In the end it starts to add up, especialy if the games use lots of boards and plastic figures.
* my stuff was fine tough.
I'm thinking about giving Xwing a small break as I work away weeks at a time and the store I try playing at has had every tournament on when I'm at work for nearly a year now, I'm not that happy as I just can't make it to a big game venue at all and this is were I really want to play.
I did think about selling my Xwing fleet but I just can't do it.
Too much thought as gone into planing, playing and sitting at work dreaming about flying and all of the lists OMG lists, manoeuvres, painting ships , lists and more lists.
NA, can't do it, can't sell, mmmm lists. Oh wait, ! :0

Tusken Raider, Walrus Man, and Hammerhead. I loved those guys.
And the little plastic lightsaber thingy that slid out of the arm of Darth Vader and Kenobi. Those were state of the art, freakin' cool back in the day. Wish I still had all that old stuff...

Don't do it. Your collection is far too small to have any value. As a matter of fact, you should double down and buy more.
Edited by loki_tbcYou are indeed right , wave 8 preordered and need 2 more Krack Fighters with another M3 intercepter

I think I know this feeling. I had a strange feeling when selling all my ex-wife's stuff and I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
Then I saw her face and realized it was pure, unadulterated delight and joy. I just wish she'd had more to sell.
Her mum's stuff sold really well, surprisingly, I just wish I could have seen her face too. I was surprised how well adult diapers and a walker sold!

Oh, you mean THIS old stuff.
Every single one of the ANH, ESB and ROTJ figures complete with all of their accessories.
I'm sooo jealous.
And you just had to stack Walrus Man right on top, didn't you?
Maybe it was the color combo, I dunno...
And I see some bounty hunters I like...
I don't agree with the idea that removing the things from your life means being sad.
I recently sold my Magic collection. 1200+ dollars. Lots of weight.
All I felt was relief.
Ten years ago, I had 1500+ point 40k forces for Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Chaos Marines, Orks, and Eldar - with nearly 5000 points of Eldar, along with four Necromunda gangs and five Blood Bowl teams, oh, and a random assortment of Battlefleet Gothic, too. Gradually sold those over the years, the last one I sold was the Eldar army and when I finally parted with it I felt...
Relief.
I sold dozens of old SNES, NES, GBA, PS1, DC games for a fair whack of change, even a limited edition NES-pattern GBA, and when I mailed it off I felt...
Relief.
I was not using any of those things.
It was dead weight in my life.
I had no urge to play the games again, except for BB - I kept bits and pieces, like the Necromunda Escher Juve that rose to be the melee terror of the Underhive, the converted Warboss Kergitz da Krafty and Daemon Prince Al'zerin, my scratchbuilt Goblin team sourced from WFB plastics - so parting with things I had no use for and kept only for memories was logical.
Parting with the things didn't mean parting with the happy memories given by those things . All it meant was filtering my life down to the games I love the most and keeping those. Battletech. Savage Worlds. Super Dungeon Explore. My massive RPG miniature collection that I can use for dozens of different games.
Hell, if I'm being totally honest, I'm not that into X-Wing. The lack of campaign support, along with tournaments being ONLY dogfights and no variations, is kind of boring to me. That's why I'm carefully planning my purchases so I only get what I need to play.
Look for scenarios. They enhance x wing experience A LOT, and some good Campaigns out there for free.
The Gr 75 mini campaign is very good, too.

All epic campaigns, in fact, although the GR-75 and Gonzanti both have the advantage of being playable on a standart field with relatively few ships. Go ahead and play these (maybe with some thematic restrictions, like no Biggs defending Hoth, no high tech or FO TIEs), they might be exactly your cup of tea. Then if you have done that a few times, go look for some campaigns on Mission Controll, I am sure there are some.
I don't agree with the idea that removing the things from your life means being sad.
It doesn't necessarily mean that, but it can. Parting, after all, is such sweet sorrow.
I still have thousands of M:TG cards in a suitcase. Apart from the more recent duel decks I don't quickly foresee an opportunity to take them out and sort them and all that. But they take up no space that I need so parting from them now, for me, would come with a sense of nostalgic sadness. If anything, my nephew in a couple of years will probably discover them. We'll have fun with it then.
I don't like parting with anything I've painted; I'm slow at painting things so I like to keep hold of them. As well as that, I've got about 3000+ points of unpainted Chaos Marines which I can't part with.
I've got a lot of old consoles and board games I keep meaning to sell but I can't be bothered to post them! Those are definitely dead weight.
Other collections I really think I'll keep forever; all the 3/3.5 forgotten realms material (and a mass of other D&D items from that era) all the WH40K rpg books, and about 2/3 Planescape books but man that's hard to get for decent prices in the UK.
Sourcebooks, for me, I don't even need to play the game, I derive a lot of enjoyment of just immersing myself in the rules and fictional worlds they describe without even needing a structured narrative.

Yeah Me to. But I stick to PDFs because of my storage issues, except for GW chaos codex/armybooks.
