Raider, Corvette, and Defender repaints

By Chrysis84, in X-Wing

Lets hope this works on the first try, unlike last-time. So the Corvette and Defenders have been posted before, I did manage some better pictures of them. The Raider hasn't been posted til now. The Raider(Harbinger) was my own take on the very real Dazzle camo patterns used on Navy ships in both World Wars. The green isn't as bright as it seems in the photo. All in all I'm pretty impressed at how it turn out, especially since I mixed my own green blend(a first for me). Anyways I hope you all enjoy.

The Raider does look a bit bright :D

Excellent skills though.

Raider needs the GLORIOUS WASHES bath

I completely agree, I just haven't decided if I want to do more to it before it is finalized with a wash.

I LOVE THE RAIDER! and the Defenders are cool to.

**** fine work mate.

All three colour schemes work so well.

Im a big fan of black with purple so auto like for me.

And I love that navel dazzle, very sharp work

Thank you everyone for the feedback, likes, and time spent looking.

I feel like those Defenders are Secret Order Defenders.

I love the look! How did you do the Seraphim's engines? With an airbrush? I've been trying to figure out how to paint mine, but all I have are regular brushes.

The Raider looks like it's got the swedish camo pattern on it! :D

I will admit I was nervous on that one. Everything you see is handbrushed. So for starters the paints I used were Apple Barrel Bright Yellow 20513E(@Walmart) and Games Workshop Blazing Orange 61-07. I used about 3 layers of yellow in the sunken areas of the engines. Once that was dry I applied the orange to the raised areas. Now this part is something I just came up with as a theory to attempt to blend and dirty up the two colors, so there might be better, more legit ways to do this but I dont know. I decided to moisten a q-tip in paint thinner and applied it over the engine. While the thinner is still wet on the engine I took a dry paper towel and placed over it. I took my thumb centered it over the paper towel engine, pushed down and gave it a spin to blend/smear it all together and thats all I've done. An important note would be when you get to the q-tip stage work on one engine at a time til they are finished before q-tippin the next one. I am by no-means a pro and there may other ways to do this but these were the steps I took and I truly hope this helps you out.

I was hoping someone would catch that.
