Need some help making a 400 pt Carrier list. I have And ISD, a VSD, a Gladiator and a Raider. Have 8 fighters and 2 of everything else, getting more Friday.
Imperial Carrier list
I'm kinda new at this but I might be able to help, gimme a few hours.
ISD2 w/ boosted comms and Relentless
Radier w/ expanded hangar bay
Tarkin
8 squadron mix
add upgrades to season to taste
Tarkin and Relentless give a ton of flexibility to bring that squadron command and token around more often to activate 6 squadrons at long range.
The Raider with a token from Tarkin-clause gives the potential for 3 squadron activations plus adds a screen for the ISD.
w/ 8 squadrons, you could go bomber heavy or have a anti-fighter ball with an anti-ship ball, there are a lot of combos.
I prefer Vader, Fel, Howlrunner, Mauler, Rhymer, a bomber, interceptor and an advanced. Fel, the fighter aces and an advanced are the anti-fighter while the others hit capital ships. Both are pretty good at hitting the other's target as well.
Why no Demolisher though?
395/400
ISD-I Motti, Flight Controllers, Expanded Hangars, Boosted Comms, XI7 155
VSD-I 73
GSD-1 Demolisher, ACM, Engine Techs, Vet Captain 84
3 Tie Fighters 24
2 Tie Interceptors 22
Rhymer 16
Tie Bomber 9
Tie Advanced 12
ISD makes the fighters and interceptors deadly so sweep away enemy squadrons. VSD can activate Rhymer, bomber and an Advanced to escort them. Once squadrons are dead tie fighters can swarm ships or join Rhymer's blob to fire at longer range.
Deploy ships to one side but not right in the corner facing slightly toward the table centre. Enemy will not wish to come along your shorter flank and get squashed along the board edge so you know where they will approach from. Slower VSD can take the inside track while the others with faster speed wheel round.
Why no Demolisher though?
I should have been clearer. My list was only a partial and not a complete fleet. It only addresses most of the fleet and not all of it and really only gets after the carrier part. The seasoning was adding more ships or upgrades as you saw fit. However, once you've spent points on what I had, there likely won't be much left for the Demolisher.
As for why: Demolisher dosn't really give you much for the "carrier" mission as it tends to be conspicuous. Murphy's Laws of Combat state, "Don't be conspicuous, it draws fire. That's why aircraft carriers are called bomb magnets." With that being said, Demolisher GSD as a carrier will be very conspicuous (as will an ISD). The major difference is the ISD will have the hull and firepower to better cope with being a bomb (or turbolaser) magnet. So, if there is a carrier, do what Mad Cat did and don't make the Demolisher it. Mad Cat's carrier would be more effective by itself. My carrier solution spreads it out amongst a couple of ships instead of one.
