All names are guesses. I'm pretty crappy with names. I think Sean is right at least. Played out in Buffalo Ny at Collectors Inn. I think we had 14 players, and played 4 rounds. No cut.
My List:
Boba - Firespray - Vet Instincts, Engine Upgrade, K4 Security Droid, Glitterstim,
Thug - Y-wing- TLT, Unhinged Astromech
Thug -y-wing - TLT, Unhinged Astromech
I was planning on using Boba to ace-hunt while the Thugs did general consistent damage to anything that came in range and tried to dash away with unhinged when things got scary. Boba with K4 to try and stay stress-resistent and still get some additional dice-manipulation while stressed. This ended up working out pretty well. Only played 1 stressbot but that game it worked well. Often this was a game winner in the end-game as I can green-move, target lock, take an evade or engine boost out of arc entirely.
Round 1: Tim?
Echo - Tie Phantom - ACD, Rebel Captive, FCS
Howrunner - Tie Fighter
2x PS1 Tie FO's
Academy Pilot - Tie Fighter
Loose asteroid formation around the center of the table. He deploys a 2x2 block of the 4 tiesto the right of center. Echo further to the right of them. I deploy Boba in the center of my zone with the 2 thugs on the left of him. Hoping to draw the swarm through the asteroids and mess up their formation before engaging.
He takes a sharp turn with the swarm turn 1 towards my left and moves forward with Echo. Seeing an opportunity to single out ech with Boba who had swam into the middle of the asteroid field I dial up a sharp right turn. Echo ends up decloacking forward and turning into the outside edge of the asteroids and barrel rolls to where he things will cause a bumb. Boba's turn takes them almost side to side. Engine boost to get the rear arc in sight and a 4 die attach sees Echo dead on the first pass.
On the left side the Thugs are wandering forward while the ties skirt the outside of the asteroids to keep in formation. One they clear the Thugs turn into the field and head back to the right side while taking pot shots at the leading ties.
Boba takes a couple turns to reach the opposing deployment zone and turn back to the left where he can start harassing the ties again. Diving within range 1 of most of the swarm, pops the glitterstim and burns down Howlrunner. Glitterstimmed and with 2 re-rolls from nearby enemies he sees 0 damage in return from the ties. The Thugs finish off another tie this turn.
At this point the Thugs are pretty low on health and they bail back towards my deployment zone while Boba finishes off the last 2 ties for a 100-0 win.
Round 2: Matt?
Soontir - Interceptor - Stealth, Autothruster, Title, Push the Limits
Carnor Jax - Interceptor - Hull, Autothruster, Title, Push the Limits
Omega Leader - Tie FO - Stealth, Comm Relay
This one looked like a bear from the start. I knew the autothrusters and stealth devices would cause problems for the Thugs and Omega Leader could possible cause havoc against Boba.
I'll save a lot of time saying I had a hard time getting damage to stick to high agility ships while he picked on the Thugs. Boba eventually got a couple shots on Omega leader to kill him. 1 of the Thugs went down to Carnor/Soontir before a wounded Carnor tried to run away to save points. Boba was able to hunt him down in the last few turns of the game and finish him off. 63-25 to me.
Round 3: Sean
Poe - T70 X-wing - Lone Wolf, R3-p9, Autothruster
Red Ace - T70 X-wing - R2D2, Integrated astromech(?), Predator(?)
Gold Squad - Y-wing - TLT, BTL-A4, Stressbot
Another solid list. Double regen and a Stresshog? Ouch.
So we start out with both Thugs on my far left, Boba just to the right of them. Stressbot in the far left oposite my Thugs ( I had initiative and originally had toyed with the idea of trying to burn down the Goldie but quickly gave that up) with the Red Ace next to the Goldie and Poe setup about range 2 away in the middle of his zone.
I start out by hoping to outpace his goldie and making poe/red ace come together to neutralize the lone wolf re-rolls by turning sharply right with all my ships and headed to the right side corner. Poe/Red ace do end up closing to about range 1 to fit through the asteroids. Combat engages toward my rear-right corner with the two t-70's picking on the poor Thugs. I manage to strip a couple shields off Poe while his Goldie catches up. Boba was too fast for his own good and had stared up the right side of the board to k-turn and head back into action.
He finishes off the first Thug after Boba has k-turned. Boba headed straight towards the to t-70's dials up a long straight and after an engine boost manages to put rear arc at range 1 of Poe. Glitterstimmed and with 2 re-rolls he puts 4 hits into poe (2 hits/2 crits) and finishes off poe. A little more dancing sees both of our Y's finished off and it leaves Boba (full shields) against Red Ace (full shields).
With over 20 minutes left in the round I can't run away long enough to win on points (50 remaining to his 35). Red ace starts picking on Boba. With just 2 ships on the board the turns go fast. We probably went through a dozen rounds with just those 2 ships. Me tryign to get a target-lock flank shot and just not get shot. We whittle each other down to the point he's on 1 hull, I've got 2 left. And he just wins the attrition battle the turn I blank a 2 hit shot. Reroll and still blank. Sean goes on to win overall.
Round 4: John?
Wes Janson - T65 X-wing - Integrated Astromech, R4-D6, Vet Instincts
Wedge - T65 X-wing - Integrated Astromech, Predator, BB-8
Jan Ors - HWK-290 - TLT, Vet Instincts, Moldy Crow title
His plan is to push extra damage dice onto whicever x-wing is taking the important shot that turn and just raw-damage me to death. This ended up working out well for him.
My plan was (apparently) to get shot, fall down, and sink into the swamp.
His plan was better then mine.
He starts off with his 2 x-wings side by side about a quarter of the way in from the left side. With the Hwk right behind them. All right across from my two thugs. Boba sets up far left. Initial plan is to rush and try to burn down the Hwk as I think I can outfly the two x-wings with boba in the long game.
He progresses slowly forward (1 forward with all ships first couple turns) and I fail to get in range of the rear Hwk and start pushing damage on Wedge. The thugs are taking some decent damage while boba tries to swing around a rock. The y's scatter when the x-wings get too close and the first goes down to Jan's TLT powered by a stack of focus tokens.
Both x-wings have k-turned the turn I scatter to try and get rear shots but I'm no where to be found. The thugs finish off Wedge this turn. Boba tries to boost forward and get a rear arc shot on Wes while taking a hit of his own. Not a great play but what I was stuck with at the time. His 5 die attack ends with 3 hits 2 crits (Jan helped) and my glitterstimmed, target locked attack ended up with 1 hit.
Down goes Boba while Wes laughs.
About now I'm feeling a bit low and I've got a long drive home ahead of me. He's got Wes (full shields) and Jan (down 1 shield) and I've got 1 Thug with full shields... I decide to play it out and see if I can't make a moral-victory out of killing Jan as was my original plan.
Focus bank Jan with TLT but only 4 health is pretty fair match up agaisnt a healthy Thug who focuses every turn and I manage to finish off Jan while losing all my shields and 2 hull. These couple turns Wes was k-turning and clearing his stress off on the opposite side of the board from when he finished off Boba.
Now it's 1 (badly wounded) Thug against Wes.
I decide to play on. Mostly as I had reached my personal goal of killing Jan and thought it would be over fast. But now I start seeing the awesome arc-dodgeing capability of Unhinged Y-wings and frantically try to out-guess my opponents play. Without engine boost or any ability to barrel roll I'm able to turn away when he k-turns and k-turn the turns he tries to run at me. Slowly picking away shields. And then picking away hull, and then the integrated astromech kicks out the droid... Meanwhile I took a shot early on in this and I'm running the entire time on 1 hull.
Eventually Wes is in a corner trying to pull a couple 2-turns to re-engage. The final turn is me going 4-straight right behind were Wes is sitting, staring at the board edge a ship-length in front of me while Wes turns and misses seeing me. First TLT shot ... 3 blanks. Crap. Try harder ... 2 hits and a focus. Going to have to be good enough as my 4 speed move meant no focus token. And down goes Wes.
I end up being beaten out by Sean but he turns down alt-art vader as he already has one and takes some acrylic tokens I believe and a Gozanti. I quickly scooped up Disco Vader and a Houndstooth.
