My first experience Flying 4 Brobots

By Hexdot, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Yesterday we fought a 6 player 400 pts Epic, and as my wingmates were a little green I was flying 200 pts. 6 x 4 feet table, standard deploy, no objectives, 12 Rocks ( 50% bigger than.official tokens, 3d Rocks ). Scum vs Imperials.

My opinions :

- sharing 4 "Special Brobot Skills" is a nightmare to your opponent, and taking into account in the planning phase 4 skills each is not easy to master. It does not sound too tricky, but you must be carefull.

-As a House Rule I paid 5 points "extra" because Agressors are balanced to be deployed in pairs. I think that if you play Brobots Epic some kind of agreement is needed, paying at least 5 extra points or similar.

-Buy upgrades that enhances survavility. The combined skills are so awesome that you will want to avoid the premature loss of one of them.

Definitely on the survival front. Epic is a big change in 'feel'.

Pilot skill at the top end of the table is less important because whether PS9 or PS11, vader still won't be able to get out of everyone's arc.

PS at the middle of the table is much more important, because it's quite feasible to field enough PS7-8 firepower to burn down a ship before it can fire. Aggressors are tough but not that tough, and if one gets shot it's gonna be shot a LOT. Stuff that works regardless of the number of attackers, like sensor jammers glitterstimm and autothrusters, make a hell of a difference, and your 90' Segnor's loops are probably your most powerful ability because with 300 points on a double sized board, you increase the density of ships and the number of arcs of fire. Being unpredictable is key.

Also - avoid Push The Limit if you can. It's an easy pick for 'normal' games, but even there, tactician and similar make it sometimes risky. In epic, a 50 odd point epic ship with Jam and Slicer Tools can blow you apart in a couple of turns without even rolling dice.
