Ships touching, bases aren't

By Thrawn86, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I'm a new player, and recently played a game with my family in which I was using the Hound's Tooth, and the other team was using the Millennium Falcon. At one point in the game, I moved the Hound's Tooth and the physical ship was touching the Falcon, but the bases wouldn't have touched. What are the rules regarding large ships touching, but bases not touching?

Thanks!

As long as the bases are not touching, play as normal. Some models extend past the edge of their bases, it has no effect on game play. It is recommended that you add or remove pegs to correct it though.

You add or remove pegs to try to get them to avoid touching. It does not affect your movement or actions.

K. I'll take away one peg and add it to the other ship next time then. Thanks!

The ship models are only required for cosmetic purposes and have no real input on the game. Only bases matter.

As mentioned above if you have two models that would come in contact with each other you are supposed to stop play and then add or remove begs until you can obtain a state where the models no longer make contact with each other. Yes, it is as absurd as it sounds.

In reality, 99% percent of players simply remove one model until the ships separate.
