StarViper Guri & Focus

By AncientestOne, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Friend states that Guri should be able to gain a focus from each enemy within Range 1, and that the card is ambiguous. I say he is incorrect and only receives 1 focus but cannot find anything to back up my assertion. Any help or clarifications? I'd check the FAQ, but it isn't loading up on my computer.

Card reads: "At the start of the Combat Phase, if you are at Range 1 of an enemy ship, you may assign 1 focus to your ship."

No, it says you may assign 1 focus token to your ship, not 1 per enemy. Plus the 'once per opportunity' rule would prevent you from trying it multiple times.

Can you point me to where I can find the 'once per opportunity' rule? My friend is from Missouri... lol

Page 8, under Card Abilities:

"A card ability cannot be resolved more than once during the timing specified on the card."

Guri triggers at the start of the Combat phase, measures range, assigns a token if able to, and has now been resolved. You cannot repeat that process until the next round's Combat phase.

Thank you!

The card's only ambiguous if you've the comprehension skills of a potato.

Well, he DID say Missouri...

I'm not meaning to cast dispersions of folks from Missouri, but is there an in-joke the rest of the world should be aware of?

as a native Iowan, I hve a sheaf of Missouri redneck jokes in my head. Though to be fair, you could usually replace Missouri with any other state you care for and most of them would work just fine.

Just your normal human tribalism...

Missouri is known as the 'Show Me" state. Meaning that they won't believe something until they see it with their own eyes.

Missouri is also where all the quitters ended up during the westward expansion of the United States.

Methinks hes confusing guri with boba.

Have him pull both cards, then note "each"vs "if".

Then probably bang your head on a wall as he refuses to accept he's wrong.......

Edit: faq has no entry on guri btw.
