I had a thought, or "Sotta Voce"

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing

SoT + TA = Stay on Target + Targeting Astromech

Sotto Voce = Whispered

Wedge Antilles + SoT + TA + Integrated Astromech = A new form of hyper-mobile terror-ace, like Whisper.

BB8 + SoT is a cool combo too, reveal a green, do a BR, then change to whatever you want. No way to get rid of the stress for next round tho so there is an anti synergy with that

Unless you take porkins...

Put a torpedo on Wedge. The look of surprise will be worth it.

This one also has some moves for about the same as you'd pay for Poe, and he can remove Poe's focus:

Wes Jansen + Veteran Instincts + BB-8 + Engine Upgrade

This sounds fun. I might give it a try.

With 3 forward green for BB8 and 3 tallon roll or hard 3 turn eother way. You can barrel roll and then talon roll left or right.

Yess, hmm, yess. Gooooood, goooood.

*closes eyes and rubs blood over torso and face*

What do we run him with? Wingman Lando with Nien for theme? I think wingman has a place here so you can pull these shenanigans turn after turn. After you load up Lando you kind of have 15-20 points dangling there, so no Lando.

You add VI R2-DPoe with Autothrusters and that's 71 points. What to spend that last 29 points on? Wingman A-Wing ace with Prockets and an initiative bid? You want to be moving last for sure.

Edited by ParaGoomba Slayer

Fly him with Wingman greenies.

I've been telling my friend to run this to counter our groups Soontir guy, I don't think he's tried it yet. I honestly think this is the best way to run Wedge.

New meta hatred squadron?

33 point Wedge with the terror ace loadout.

Han Solo with VI, Title, Engine Upgrade, Luke Crewwalker, C-3PO.

95 points, for PS 11 boosting and Wedge always moving last against Soontir.

Same as above, except Luke is made into regular gunner and Han gets a Homing Missile. Yes Han's ability works with missiles, had to look that one up lol. 98 points.

Concussion Missile is a point cheaper if you want to seal the deal on initiative at 97.

You could also fly an identical Falcon with Lando to fit both Luke Crewwalker and Homing Missiles and the initiative bid. No PS 11 boosting but you have a turret so it doesn't super matter. Lando moves up first, hands Wedge a focus and then Wedge Stays on Target for a TA target lock.

A meta hatred squadron that's also thematic.

Oh my god, advanced proton torpedoes. Hear me out.

Step 1.) Lando moves up, hands Wedge a free action for a focus token.

Step 2.) Wedge Stays on Target and gains a Targeting Astromech Target lock. Since he's using Stay on Target and he's moving last, his fully modified agility reducing APT is simply unavoidable.

Step 3.) Soontir is gone.

You could go full cancer, and add Poe Dameron with R5-P9 , Autothrusters, and Wingaman, with a TLT Stresshog (with Bomb Loadout and a Seismic Charge), with a 1 point initiative bid.

Keyan doesn't want AC + Autoblaster, in my experience.

Yeah, but you've never had him get a stress for every red maneuver and not even caring about red maneuvers. All dial, all the time, get a stress, then eat it.

I'm not saying that's a bad combo; its the OTHER combo you put on him that i'm having difficulty with :)

Stress turns into free offensive focus.

FCS is cheaper and results in more Hit results.

Also, Autoblaster is kind of pants.

Wedge Antilles + SoT + TA + Integrated Astromech = A new form of hyper-mobile terror-ace, like Whisper.

I've tried this. It's not... I didn't have much success with it. :(

It's possible that I'm just not a good enough pilot! I'd like that to be the case, as I can always improve my flying. My experience was that Wedge was a hate magnate.

Oh, he definitely wears a hate-magnet, no question.

The trick is to either be absolutely boss at flying him (easier if you flank with him), or if you build the list so that EVERYONE has a hate-magnet.

That's a nice combo. Unlike most of the other things that trigger off of a specific color maneuver, the timing for BB-8 is "When" and not "After" so you'd still be able to modify the maneuver with Stay on Target.

You'd want that initiative bid instead of the bombs. 1 point is not enough, with lists that live or die based on initiative, staying at or below 97 is paramount. If Soontir moves after Wedge then it's all for naught.

Seismic charges mean nothing IMO. Even on high PS ships where you're moving very last and can omnisciently drop them, one non-hull damage on a Poe is nothing. That being said, quad bomber with quad seismics and quad homing missiles doesn't seem bad, but that's because you have 8 of them.

It doesn't really matter if Wedge is a hate magnet. If he moves last and can kill Soontir or some other acewing ship for babies he's done his job. This is why you fly him with a BBMF (Big Beautiful Millenium Falcon) to carry when Wedge dies.

You could combine this Wedge with Biggs and Kyle Katarn to add defense and/or buy him some time.

Wedge 29

Stay On Target 2

Targeting Astromech 2

Integrated Astromech 0

33

Biggs 25

Some Astromech 1

Integrated Astromech 0

26

Kyle Katarn 21

TLT 6

14 points left for a wide array of upgrades you could take, or a Z-95. Kyle would feed Focus to Biggs or Wedge, depending on where shots were lined up. You could put Wingman on Biggs with R2D6, which leaves enough for a Bandit.

Instead of the Bandit, you could do a Plasma Torpedo on Wedge for 3, Chewbacca crew on Kyle for 4 more. Maybe the Crow to give Kyle more longevity. An initiative bid would be important, too. Lots of options. You're really relying on Wedge to burn stuff down, though.

Am I wrong to think that you're only getting stay on target and a red move every other turn? How is this even close to whispers mobility?

Also not that powerful either. I've created and practiced with a list that goes for 6 TL F dice attack every turn.

So after throwing a 4/5 hit procket at a Soontir just for my opponent to roll evade triple focus and spend the focus token, I've decided to try my second meta hatred squadron.

My opponent's squad is 35 point stealth Soontir, and a 65 point RAC with Predator, Gunner, Vader, Ysanne, Engine Upgrade. This is all that he flies and he's been flying it for a while. So he pretty much just autokills your ships should they dare get within range 3 of the Decimator, and if you take out the Deci you have end game Soontir to face.

So, I'm going to try Han Solo, Predator, R2-Dcrew, C-3PO, Millennium Falcon, Engine Upgrade, and Wedge with the Terror Ace load out. I have some points for a torp/missile, so thinking Plasmas on Wedge to maybe strip shields off his Deci. I have 97 points so I hand him the initiative and force his Soontir to move first. Wedge can then work his magic.

Han in the end game vs. soontir is okay for you, you have so much damage mitigation that you can just shrug off his attacks and he's moving first. Han vs Deci end game ends in your favor, you evade, 'guess' zero, and R2-Dcrew.

I'm just tired of his effin build and your inability to do anything to it unless you fly Danger Zone or something stupid. He sweeps every $5 Friday tournament and I always get matched against him and lose with my Boba and Vader squad. Time to join the dark side and turret up.
