Vader Rerolls: How Many Tokens?

By Pilot no55389, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Quick question regarding Darth Vader's (as Commander) ability:

"While a friendly ship is attacking a ship, it may spend 1 defence token to reroll any number of dice in its attack pool."

So, say an Imperial-2 is firing. It has 1 Brace, 2 Redirect and 1 Contain. Is possible to spend a Redirect to reroll (X) dice then, if I don't like the results, spend my Contain to reroll again? Basically, can I opt to spend my defence tokens as much as I am willing to, or am I limited to a maximum of 1 token per attack pool?

I used it in an event over the weekend with the ability to spend multiple and (while costly) was very effective, and I just want to make sure I wasn't accidentally cheating (and so I know for future reference either way.)

Thanks.

The Timing Rules in the Rulebook essentially specify that "While" Means "Once during each Trigger". The trigger is "Attacking". So you may spend 1 token, and then not again during that attack.

But you can of course, spend more in subsequent attacks.

Ahh OK, that makes me a little sad but it's good to know. Makes Vader a bit less useful especially for his steep cost.

[Edit: double post, woo!]

Makes Vader a bit less useful especially for his steep cost.

Just to be clear, when Vader spends a defense token, that means you flip it from ready to exhausted, and only discard it if you spend an exhausted token.

I understand, though it's good to clarify for those uncertain.
