Printing Cards (and renaming Blue Ace)

By GarethOfKelshim, in X-Wing

It kind of bugs me that Red Ace and Blue Ace are 'named' characters without any names. Especially since Poe and Ello showed up in the same boxes that they did.

I've decided for my headcanon that Blue Ace is Jessika Pava because

A) See above

And

B) My students enjoy playing the game but the girls wish there were more female characters to choose from. I know which ones there are, but I don't have too many of them yet.

I'd like to print a renamed and rephotod Blue Ace. Does anyone know of a good programs to design your own cards in? I've found this link, http://cgjennings.ca/eons/download/update.htmlbut unfortunately it doesn't seem to work for me.

I agree that, if Blue Ace has to be named and identified - Jessika Pava is as good a candidate as any.

What about Red Ace? Lieutenant Bastian so far seems to be the only clearly identified member of Red Squadron.

Let me see if I can make you one or two of 'em when I get home in a few hours. Got any particular alternate art in mind?

Except Jessika Pava has huge red markings on her helmet, making her a much better candidate for Red Ace... just sayin'

From the Wiki:

"Jessika Pava, also known as Jess or Testor, was a human female who flew as a X-wing fighter pilot for the Resistance under the callsign of Blue Three."

I know... I know... Blue Three... I just would rather she was Red Ace. Anyone know what the NAX (in Aurbesh) on her helmet means?

I've decide that the uniques that don't have proper names and callsigns aren't, necessarily, unique. Blue Squadron probably had more than one ace pilot, after all. :)

Then again, to date my only opponent is ten years-old and none of these pilots have actually made it to the table anyway, but still...

If you're looking to design your own cards, search for Strange Eons and the Xwing patch associated with it.

I agree with Kdubb, Strange Eons is an outstanding program for doing custom cards. Each of our pilots in "Heroes of Antari Cluster" have their own cards. All you need is to save whatever design you do to a PDF and take it to a printing store or use your own colour printer.

I use the atelier du falcon French app online. It's faster but a little less accurate. But the custom cards I made turned out perfect.

Jessika Pava has been Red Ace to me from the moment i saw her on-screen. So, yeah. I always refer to Red Ace with feminine pronouns as a result.

Blue Ace was always "Snap" Wexley to me too. Because his helmet has blue on it.

No, i don't care that Jessika was Blue Squad and "Snap" was Red Squad. At all.

Blue Ace - Snap Wexley

Red Ace - Nien Nunb

That's how I think of them.

Jessica and Wexley deserve their own card in the near future. Blue and Red aces are just nameless pilots that are above average. I'm sure we'll see Jessica again and I know Wexley will pop up in a few more places.

It's possible FFG printed the cards like that to avoid spoiling anything in TFA. Maybe we'll see some of these pilots when Rebel Veterans shows up.

Using Strange Eons. It took about 5 minutes.

Is this what you're after?

Edit: Whoa .. not sure what to do about the size.

"Snap" is also Blue Squad. Red Squad is Ello, Lt. Bastian, and maybe Nien Nunb (if he isn't Black Squad, which is unclear from sources I've seen).

@Conandoodle:

There is at least a high res photo of Jess that you could potentially use. Unfortunately Bastian has no such screen cap.

So I've seen this come up a bunch, and I've always wondered: How do we know that the pilots aren't actually named "Red Ace" and "Blue Ace"? Twins, born to the Ace family, and their parents were artists and decided to name them after two of their favorite hues: Blue and Red. The fact that they ended up as X-Wing pilots was purely coincidental, and now they have to endure constant ribbing from their squad mates.

Sure it would make for some awkward conversations, and filling out paperwork could be a hassle, and let's not even mention the tension between them and their cousins, Omega, Zeta, and Epsilon, but still, it could happen. ;)

^ Hahaha. I wish there was a 'Brilliant' button.

Blue Ace and Red Ace are obviously Ace Azzameen's kids.

Ha! There, see? DarthEnderX gets it. ;)

But Nien Nunb is Blue Ace

Also should get a Pilot card with his name actually on it

Man, I completely forgot to do this. Looks like you've got what you want, but just in case you want her face on there, too...

Take this from another angle... why would you put her on the ship that no one is going to fly? At least with Red Ace it will hit the table...

Anyone done Snap as the other "Ace"?
