Moments you felt the most sorry for the opponent?

By Kalandros, in X-Wing

Dropped Proximity Mine on Whisper. Rolled 2 hit and 1 crit. The crit was Direct Hit. BOOM!

I applaud this. But I don't think I'd feel bad for my opponent. They were flying a Tie Phantom, which means that anything you do against them that results in a dead Phantom should be considered good and a moment of pride. (Have I mentioned that I hate Phantoms? I hate Phantoms.)

In a Store Championship just yesterday, I had Zeta Leader with Wired. He'd taken a pounding, and had one hit left, no tokens. TLT rolls hit/hit/focus, and spends the Focus for three hits. I rolled 3 natural evades. Second TLT shots he rolls 3 natural hits. I roll evade/evade/focus, re-roll the eyeball with Wired for a 3rd evade. Zeta Leader survives another round.

The other day at League Night I played a game against a guy who had just joined the league. He had a Decimator + TIE/fos and I had Xizor + fodder. First round of fire I took the Decimator's shields off and landed a crit- direct hit. He had Moff Jerjerrod, so he discarded him to cancel the direct hit. Second round Xizor lands another crit on the Decimator- major hull breach: all his damage cards are face up. The fodder then proceeds to drop about 6 more damage on the Decimator, all face up thanks to the major hull breach, utterly crippling the Decimator. Decimator went down the round after that, and the TIEs the next turn. Poor guy, if he had only saved the Moff 1 turn longer. ;)

In the third round, I hope? Major Hull Breach doesn't come into effect until the round after you receive it...

Oh crap really? We didn't catch that. Now I feel even worse for him. I've never had that crit come up on me personally, and he was the one who read the card and was dealing the damage cards face up to himself. Whoops.

In a local tournament, my opponent had managed to place his Procket A-Wing in a perfect position to get an alpha strike off against my Poe (which would have probably won him the game if it had landed, as Poe already had lost a few shields). I focus fired on the A-Wing with Poe and Red Ace, and just barely blew it away before it got to fire.

I have to say this weekend in a tournament i watched a dash with hlc and outrider attack 5 times in a row and roll 4 blanks every time. I looked straight at my opponent and told him the dice gods must hate him.

He is clearly a heretic doomed to freeze forever in the hell of cold dice!

Against an opponent that made it to the top 4 with 3 lambdas with sensor jammers. I flew a Tie Swarm against it, and I kept on rolling crits with my actionless shots (about 60% of my hits were crits). Dice were hot...

Twice, and oddly enough against the same person.

First time was a Han or Dash/Corran list... was over a year ago and I can't remember for sure which, just that it was a pancake. He was flying a Firespray and something. I was flying well his list didn't work well, my dice were hot.

No single thing about it, but it wasn't a fun game because it was fairly lopsided. He's someone I play against every other week or so and we tend to split the games. So beating him 200-0 was odd.

Next time against him was at a tournament, I was flying two K-Wings and a B vs a shuttle and some defenders with Ion's. The game was the final for the tournament but it was a big win for me again. His list was based on ionizing ships with one defender and coming in with the other for big damage. But I killed one defender in the 2nd or 3rd round, then he just couldn't do enough damage to hurt my ships.

When opponent's Latts Razzi (sp?) received 7dmg on 1st round of combat

a lovely maneuver I did not see coming, but PWTs ruin everything :(

oh well, at least it wasn't me on the receiving end

Gozanti had just been released and my firend was eager to field Wampa and Omega Leader in a squad, realising how lethal these ships could be I focused my firepower upon them as we closed in on each other. I was expecting to land a few hits but I certainly was not expecting to completly obliterate Wampa thanks to Ello Asty managing to talon roll behind him into a beautiful range one position. Ello had a TL from the previous turn so I managed to end up with two hits and two crits. My friend then rolls three blank evade dice and Wampa was snuffed out before he even got a chance to fire. I felt absolutely terrible, so bad that I insited that my friend put Wampa back on the table and I re roll the attack dice without a target lock but he refused.

Unfortunately Omega Leader soon followed his friend Wampa, in the space of two turns I'd managed to one shot the two fighters that my friend had been looking forward to flying all week. I felt so bad that I didn't enjoy the rest of the game at all. I like to win but not at the cost of my opponents enjoyment of the game.

He landed on a debris field. Rolled a crit on his no shields Y wing.

Flew out of the debris field, rolled another crit.

:o

Full health Latts Razzi flown off the board, tipped the game in my favour. Didn't feel like a win.

Faced a newbie with a poorly constructed two ship list. She flew straight at my stresshog and spent the rest of the short game without actions and trying to do greens. She was so disappointed. Saw her again at another tournament and she gave me the cold shoulder and the evil eye. I let her be and hoped we wouldn't face off in the draw, we didn't.

But hey, there's no tears in X wing right.

Was playing dual Scum Firesprays (Kath + Emon) against a Scum build with Guri, N'Dru, and Palob.

I used Emon to drop a Prox Mine onto Guri: HIT, HIT, CRIT. The Crit is Console Fire (At the start of each Combat phase, roll 1 attack die. On a Hit result, suffer 1 damage. Action: Flip this card facedown.) Since he's already moved, he can take an action to flip it down. 1 Shield, and 2 Hull gone.

Combat phase, he rolls...a HIT. Another hull gone. Then I shoot Range 1 from Emon's aux arc into Guri that hits and she blows up. She never even got a shot off.

I feel bad when I'm playing any game against newer players with my palp ace list. It's possible they could win but usually it's a freaking slaughter as they drown under a wave of dice modification and arc dodging. Usually this is during local tournaments so I'm just playing my tournament list and they're bringing a not bad home brew that can't quite contend without experience behind it.

Playing the other day, a friend of mine rolled his Turr Phennir straight up to my Wild Space Fringer who rolled four hits off of an HLC, and he rolled blanks. First combat exchange. It was just so...sad.

When I one shot Poe Dameron with Cluster Missiles. The hottest of attack dice, the coldest greens.

I did the Colzet thing once, repeatedly flipping a blinded pilot on the last IG on the board, turn after turn. Recently a fellow also flew his Chiraneau right into my crack-shot swarm. He actually boosted to get closer. He got PS0 and a blinded pilot for his troubles.

Yesterday I took out Ten Numb in one round of shooting with my Crack Shot TIE swarm. Had to explain what Crack Shot did on the first attack.

Tournament before that I landed a Major Explosion crit, guy rolled a hit took another crit... Double Damage. One Firespray off the board. :/

I had similar once. Was playing a game against a friend, he had a pair of TIEs, Carnor Jax, and Fettigator, I was rolling with Palpmobile, Maarek Stele, and a pair of PTL Omegas.

Fett came right at me, trying to deal some damage before zipping away. He still got lit up, but tried to flee with three health left and only Maarek Stele had an arc on him. Maarek squeezed a single crit through, and Major Explosion was one of my options. I decided to go with it. Rolled the dice, took another crit. Direct Hit. One hit, three damage, Fett was off the board.

And at a tournament this weekend, I one-shotted Wampa w/Focus and Palpatine nearby at R3 with Bossk, second turn of gameplay.

I have been flying brobots since they came out exclusively so i have become very good at flying them. 1st round store championship im matched with a guy flying a PTL brobots build without 88B I ask how long he has been playing he says a few weeks and this is his second time flying the bots. Im already feeling bad then he deploys his IGs apart from each other i set together after the first round the game was over He shot at C took one shield i shot back at his C with both B and C and took him to 2H remaining. At this point im feeling pretty dirty.

After the game i gave him some pointers I won 100-0 he never got another shot on me.

First opponent at the store championship yesterday forgot to pop integrated astromech on Poe after he took 3 full TLTs to the face on the first round of firing.

In my most recent store championship I flew RAC in the Decimator. My 4th game RAC had one hull left, my opponent had an academy and a shuttle left. RAC was at PS 0, the academy has to BR to get a clean unobstructed range 2 shot. Vader has a shot on the Academy first, does hit crit crit,She rolls one evade so she has to spend palp in order to potentially save the academy(the cirt was a direct hit, so she did save the academy.) She roll her attack dice, blank focus with no mods. Deci returns fire and kills the TIE. Next round vader ends the shuttle.

THEN the very next game. Decimator again 1 hull left. IG-C range 2 HLC, both my ships have fired and he spent his focus on defense so 4 dice w/ predator, rolls blank 2x and focus 2x, re rolls for another blank, total miss. Goes to pick up his dice for IG-B gunner, had to remind him that IG-B had died the turn before. Next round Vader kills IG-C.

at last years regionals my 1st opponent was running a Cheebo list against my Boba/IG-88 lits, i was pounding on Chewie with both ships and ignoring Leebo who had a Mangler, Leebo was trying to escape around the big asteroid in the upper left corner with Boba on his heels, his Chewie was coming around from the right, he moved chewie 1st next round which ended up being a huge mistake because chewie took the space needed for Leebo barrel roll to avoid flying off the board next round, since both are PS5 he realised he should have moved Leebo 1st but it was done, i then ignored Leebo knowing ful well he was a goner and took Chewie out, ended up being a 100-0 for me within 20 minutes of having started but i felt bad the rest of the morning about it.

The worst is when you just completely outfly someone. No boost/barrel roll tricks or anything like that, just those games where no matter what they do, you're just out of their sights and nobody changes the color of their dice for the whole game. About the third turn that happens its just heartbreaking.
