Moments you felt the most sorry for the opponent?

By Kalandros, in X-Wing

I had a game with a buddy of mine that ended within 15mins of the first activation phase (world record for fastest game?).

My List:

Rexlar

HLC

PTL

Prockets

M.K. II Ion Eng

Vessery

HLC

V.I.

Prockets

Hull

His List was:

Delta Squadron x2

Whisper at 40pts

I dont remeber exactly what was on her

The first round of combat had Whisper did 1 dmg to Vessery. Vessery shot back and hit her with 2 hits and a crit(after TL was used), she ended up blanking out and the crit was a direct hit. With Whisper gone Rexlar shot one of his deltas which ended up stripping its shield. His Deltas didnt have a shot. Onto round two all the ships ended up in range 1. Needless to say my prockets on Vessery finished off the damaged delta and Rexlar couldn't miss and did 5 dmg to the other delta. After his delta did a couple dmg to Rexlar he decided to call the game. I couldn't miss and his dice crapped out. Well it may havebeen my most dominating victory it was far from satisfying.

Store championships yesterday. My list: Xisor with Virago, Autothrusters, Advanced Sensors & Predator, Syndicate Thug with TLT and 3 Binayre Pirates.

Game 3, my opponent had Poe, Wedge and Blue Ace, all with Integrated Astromechs and various other nice bits and bobs. Round two, I managed to manoeuvre differently than he expected and catch Wedge in all my arcs. Down he went (with some very hot red dice, to be fair). Round 3... exactly the same thing happened to Poe. The rest of the game was Blue Ace frantically trying to stay away from the killer Z-95s (and taking a couple of them down as well) before Xisor finally finished him for a Modified Win.

Game 4 was a bit harsh as well – Soontir and three of the TIE-FO Aces. Took them all down for the loss of one shield on the Y, one shield on one of the Zs, and both shields and a single damage on a second Z. Whatever he did – and he flew well – he just couldn't escape the all-conquering Binayre Pirates. :P

Yesterday, putting KKK against dashhorn...

In my first tourney I went up against RAC + 4 Ties.

First turn of shooting I one-shotted 2 TIES including Dark Curse, thanks to me rolling all natural hits and crits and his green dice bringing up all blanks. When it was his turn to attack he blanked.

second turn of shooting I one-shotted 2 more TIES - evaded all damage

third turn he whiffed and I put a blinded pilot on RAC

Fourth turn I rolled a bunch more crits - flipped direct hits, and he was finished.

didn't take a single point of damage the whole game purely down to god-like dice rolling on my part and blank green faces on his part.

When the dice are so blatantly biased against a player you can't help but feel sorry for them.

2 round of a store championship shortly after the release of Wave 5. I was flying Chewbo, my opponent RAC and a named Defender.

I'd played an almost identical list in the first round and (due in no small part to some exceptionally bad manueuvering) lost 100-0. My opponent in the second game was talking to my opponent in the first prior to the game, and was grinning from ear to ear when we were setting up.

Second turn, the Defender goes down.

Third turn, both YT's open up on RAC. Fourth turn, RAC is blocked by Chewie; Fifth turn, the Decimator has to choose betwen flying onto one of two asteroids or being blocked by Chewie again, Sixth turn the Decimator ends up being blocked by Leebo and Chewie finishes it off.

The game lasted less than 20 minutes, and for the majority of it RAC was literally the filling in a YT sandwich.

My b-wing making the first attack of the game: torpedo through an asteroid at a cloaked phantom. After focus, half hits and half crits. Phantom rolls 5 blanks and explodes. In a case of bad luck made even worse it was the final round of the prerelease tournament and so I pretty much just got handed the first choice of prize ship (happy ending: I was the only person at the entire tournament who's first choice was the e-wing, so I got my ship and he still got his first pick)

Dropped Proximity Mine on Whisper. Rolled 2 hit and 1 crit. The crit was Direct Hit. BOOM!

Yesterday I took out Ten Numb in one round of shooting with my Crack Shot TIE swarm. Had to explain what Crack Shot did on the first attack.

Tournament before that I landed a Major Explosion crit, guy rolled a hit took another crit... Double Damage. One Firespray off the board. :/

A friend of mine flew his ship off the board. It was over the edge by a few mm at most. I would have let it pass but one of the guys watching called him on it.

It's that or the occasions I've rolled 3 evades when my opponent has had 3 crits.

Played a mate I had rebels xbbzz and he took imps two loaded interceptors and a few tie fighters, first turn he boosts his aces into range three knocks a few shields off a b-wing then I get my go I then proceeded to roll hit or crit on every dice, he then rolls five blanks and his ace goes pop, I shoot at his next ace same exact thing happens, then I shoot my last ship at a tie just in range three I hit crit get direct hit and kill my third ship.

In one turn I destroyed his list but felt bad because he didn't get a single evade, game went less than ten minutes.

When my opponent got sick and threw up all over the board and his miniatures... :(

Did he roll that badly?

Lol, no... He was just really sick but came to the tournament anyway. A real trooper, but sadly it wasnt a very wise move to come. The TO disqualified him after making a mess at the table and not cleaning up.

I felt bad that my opponent flew perfectly... except the BOOST PAST did not fit by 2mm in either direction. Poe dead.

Two rounds after I had pulled into range of my opponents corvette with my brand new ordnance raider.

Straight after wave 7 Brobots vs some weird Rebel List including an Ion Bomb. 2nd or 3rd round (IIRC no damage had been dealt by either side to that point), Brobots player correctly anticipates the bomb will be dropped and estimates he can bank and boost past it to safety. Except he misjudges the bank by about 1 mm and clips an asteroid with the template. No action, bomb goes off and after doing the 1 forward next round he gets left in a position where he had no choice but to fly his full HP IG-88B off the map.

Teaching my brother and cousin how to play. I have Luke, brother has Dark Curse, cousin has Backstabber.

I had bumped Dark curse the previous turn. Then Backstabber anticipates my move and gets into a great position to unload at range 1 with me having no shot. But then instead of K-turning as expected, Dark Curse tries a 1 hard turn and is blocked, he goes nowhere. This means that when I try for my 1 straight to regen with R2, I also go nowhere.

Instead of being just ahead of Backstabber I stay where I am right on his flank. He has no shot. I roll 4 hits and one shot him.

He then watches my brother and I dance around the board unable to kill each other for about 12 turns. We were at his house playing on his table while he sat watching tv for 45 minutes.

First round of a store championship last week, I'm playing Kagi, Carnor, and Omega Leader, he's got Soontir, Carnor and Turr. My Carnor gets a range 1 on Turr (We both have VI), and I one-shot him. Meanwhile Soontir shoots my shuttle at range, rolls 4 focus - my Jax is in range 1. Next turn it happens again, 4 focus. And then the turn after, my Carnor k-turns, his Soontir bumps my shuttle, and from range 3 I get hit, crit, crit on Soontir with Jax (with the help of Palp), he rolls no evades, and despite having 5 health (shield and hull), both crits come up as direct hits and Soontir gets one-shotted. And then 2 turns later my Jax takes 4 health of his Jax with one shot, and Omega Leader finishes the job. It lasted about 15 minutes if that.

Dice can be crazy sometimes. I think I lost a couple shields on the shuttle and that was it. I apologised profusely during the game for how one-sided the dice were.

During my first time flying double-bump Oicunn (with mara jade, dauntless, engine and daredevil alongside doom Yorr and a wingman BSP) against a friend with Boba/IG-B I took maybe 6 damage in the first combat turn but on the next I block both ships, with the IG on an asteroid and Boba with no arc on anything. On the next turn I double bump both of them with Oicunn, position my TIE to keep the IG from flying over me, which in turn blocks his Boba. My TIE and doom Yorr get Boba into hull. I double bump both again and block the IG again with my TIE so that it stays on the rock again. Boba dies to a Vader crit and my opponent resigns as his IG is on two hull (4 bumps and 2 out of 3 damage for the rocks) and moves after Oicunn on the next turn. We played another match which went somewhat better for him but I never saw him play that list again.

I feel sorry not sorry when I delete a brobot before it gets to shoot. Livin' that alpha strike dream. I do feel bad about the Wedge, Kraken, and Jake squad... When I see Soontir players that don't see it. But... IG and Soontir players deserve it, right?

Heroes of the Aturi Cluster, whenever I'm rolling attack dice for the AI. Those dice always seem to be hot.

every PS8+ deserves to be shot at sight.

First match at a recent store championship. It was my opponent's first tournament ever. He brought bro bots. I brought carnor jax and 3 juke fo's. First turn of engagement I have one of the Ig's at range 1 of two fo's and range 2 of the other. He has an evade token he can't use because of jax. If he didn't have a shield upgrade... My 8 possible attack dice did all 8 possible damage. One hull left and no where to go but onto a rock next round. Glorious display of the empire's might but.. I felt terrible about it.

I have to say this weekend in a tournament i watched a dash with hlc and outrider attack 5 times in a row and roll 4 blanks every time. I looked straight at my opponent and told him the dice gods must hate him.

Anytime i run this list.
