Need help rounding out an Imp bomber list

By reegsk, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hey all! I'm still trying to finish hammering out an Imp bomber list. Here's what I've got so far:

Admiral - Grand Moff Tarkin

Precision Strike

Contested Outpost

Superior Positions

Victory I-class Star Destroyer - 81 pts

- Ruthless Strategists (4 pts)

- Boosted Comms (4 pts)

Victory I-class Star Destroyer - 81 pts

- Ruthless Strategists (4 pts)

- Boosted Comms (4 pts)

Victory I-class Star Destroyer - 119 pts

- Grand Moff Tarkin (38 pts)

- Ruthless Strategists (4 pts)

- Boosted Comms (4 pts)

And here's where I'm struggling. I'm tempted to take the following:

Major Rhymer

9 x TIE Bombers

Darth Vader

The idea here is Vader helps keep Rhymer alive. Against enemy fighters in numbers, I hang back a little bit and let Ruthless Strategists and the Bombers' hull of five handled the enemy screen. Then I'm chucking 11 black at medium range, and Vader may lose the critical effect, but a hit/crit result would still net him two damage.

I'm also considering the following:

Major Rhymer

8 x TIE Bombers

Darth Vader

Swapping Ruthless Strategists for Flight Controllers and adding Corrupter to my flagship

This option also gives me a slightly higher bid at three, but I feel like this is a force that could go first or second, especially with my chosen objectives. Flight Controllers would assist with cutting through an enemy fighter screen by giving Darth another die, and one Blue one Black on the Bombers isn't a terrible AF fire either. Plus the Corrupter title plus Rhymer can put three bombers and Rhymer within attack range on turn one against an enemy force with no fighters, or serve as an emergency fix if I need a tiny bit more reach (like putting bombers in a rear arc for Superior Positions).

Anyway, thoughts? Has anyone run a list this bomber-heavy without much of an escort? Obviously there will be casualties, but 50/55 hull isn't easy to cut through, and Ruthless Strategists on two or three Vics will help chop down a lot of enemy fighters. The three lists I saw at a tournament last weekend capped out at about four or five squadrons.
