Is Corran Horn + Han Solo still competitive against meta?

By Dentego, in X-Wing Squad Lists

My first tournament is tomorrow and I'll try a new build with Han Solo and Corran Horn, since I've heard they make a good duo. Is it a build that is still viable today? Here's my build :

YT-1300 - Han Solo (46) : Predator (3), Luke Skywalker (7), Recon Specialist (3), Millennium Falcon (1)

E-Wing - Corran Horn (35) : Veteran Instincts (1), Fire-control System (2), R7 Astromech (2)

I don't have C3-PO (I'll receive one free in the tournament tomorrow) and R2-D2 yet. I use Recon specialist as a defensive and offensive alternative to PO with Chewbacca and R7 as an alternative for R2. Please comment and critique my build!

I wouldn't recommend ever flying Coran without R2-D2. He's way too squishy.

It's a very offensive build, but a multi ship opponent would tear you apart quickly

I don't know if you have Lando available but he might be better in this setting than a Recon Specialist. I agree Corran really needs R2-D2. Perhaps instead you could give him Lone Wolf instead of VI. That will give him a slight boost to both offense and defense provided you stay clear of the Falcon (not usually a problem with only 2 ships).

Personal preference matters, but here's my go at it:

Han Solo (46)

+ Gunner (5)

+ C-3P0 (3)

+ Millenium Falcon (1)

+ Veteran Instincts (1)

Corran Horn (35)

+ R2-D2 (4)

+ Push the Limit (3)
+ Fire-Control Systems (2)

I am wondering about putting Advanced Protorps on Corran with PTL and FCS. You need to be at R1 but with a decent dial and a barrel roll, it is not too hard to get there. Focus at the start of the turn and if necessary, use PTL to get you into position.

If you can get into position without barrel rolling, use PTL for TL and unload the protorps. If not, fire normally and FCS will give you a TL. At the end of the turn, unload with Protorps and use the Focus to flip the extra eyeballs into hits. Should pretty reliably cause 5 points of damage.
