bombs and Palpatine

By Full Metal Wingman, in X-Wing Rules Questions

When a bomb detonates, mines specifically, the ship that detonates the bomb rolls the dice for damage. Does that mean that if you have Palpatine on the table, can he modify one of the dice?

Yes.

Since the ship that overlapped is the one that rolls for damage, Palpatine can only modify the die on one of his squad's ships. He can't modify the die if an opponent's ship overlapped, but he could change a crit to a blank if a TIE in his squad overlapped a proximity mine.

Remember, sometimes it can be the person that dropped the mine token that overlaps it, which is why it's the overlapping ship that rolls. If your opponent dropped a mine and then later overlapped it, he would get to roll for damage, and you and Palpatine could just sit back and laugh. But as Sergovan pointed out Palpatine can't do anything if an opponent overlaps a mine token.

Perfect. Thank you for the additional posts, they put things more into perspective and makes me think a little more. I am not the one with palpatine, I am practicing for our store champs in march and having fun with Sabine. (hopefully she will be out) Our local boys play a lot of Palpatine shuttles. Bombs just become devastating with her.

You can pretty much make the assumption that Palpatine can effect any of the players rolls that controll palpy. That means your mine rolls, asteroid rolls, crit rolls, attack rolls, defense rolls, etc.

Dupe.
