The Shadows Mark

By killakan, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

This time the blush is much more obvious and Khit doesn't say much for the rest of the ride back to camp

"No-one is going to break those eggs you hear me?" Lama says. Before he grabs the one he put out and puts it back in his bag. Before noticing something that must have fallen off it. He puts the crystal in his bag as well, @nd @bsent mindedly st@rts de@ssembling his lightwhip hilt. @fter he hear N@ught's question, he nods @nd revoices it. "Yes, wh@t would the tri@l have been, if you had known Khit w@s @ fem@le?"

Mulak got up during the conversation and went to the galley to get more food. When Wyre mentioned the feast in honor of the off-world e's and newest members of the Krogan clan. He touched his in a sign of respect to them. As he shoveled food into his mouth he says with a smile, "you know Wyre...technically I fought the Maw first and also lived."

Larik gently elbows Khit in the ribs and grins.

"See! That's what I was saying!"

After he hears Mulak, @nd L@rik'$ words L@m@ grins.

Lama breaks the hilt he was working on and mutters under his breath,"I thought I had this." He puts it aside and works on some metal in order to work out his frustration. He fashions a metal deck of cards, engraving them with Sabaac symbols,. He picks up his hilt and tries again. Lama is unsatisfied strips it down for a third time and tries a third time. Finally, success! he thinks.

As everyone eats, Larik pulls out his Sabaac deck and starts shuffling the cards, partly to pass the time and partly to see if any of the Krogan are familiar with the game and want to try challenging him to a game. He keeps an eye out to see if any of them pay him more attention.

"Bringing out a game of Poker are you?" Wyre says, interested, "I'll play."

Wale pipes in, "Well Sabacc hasn't been my specialty but I'll give it a go."

"Oh, these?," Larik says, trying to feign surprise, but internally quite delighted. "Yeah, if we've got time for it, sure we can play a few hands. Want to say, 15 credits a hand?"

"Why not, I'll wager," both Wale and Wyre say simultaneously.

I'll join in. You want to use my deck. It's magnatized so the cards don't go everywhere.

"Yeah, but you just made it, so how do we know it's not marked?" Questions Wyre.

"Now why would I do that? Am I that untrustworthy?Plus it would take me like another hour to do that."Lama says, probably he thinks.

"You're an off-worlder, and an odd looking one at that, you don't look like your from the same region of space as the other 3 are, they generally look the same," Wyre answers.

"Gheesh, way to be racist. plus his"Lama points at Wale, "boss hired my species to do a cloning operation. And for your information, I'm from the Rishi maze. Which isn't even IN this galaxy."

Naught snorts at the notion that there is a broad similarity between Larik, Khit, and herself, but as she doesn't key any of her vocoder controls, it gets muffled by her respirator mask. The Krogan in the Tomkah seem content to ignore her presence, so she assumes as close to a meditative posture as is practical in the jolting vehicle and extends her awareness outward, becoming a passive receptor of environmental stimulus. Her thoughts drift momentarily to some of the rituals the Findsmen would perform to seek auguries from the cosmos, but she sets those aside. Incense would be insufferable in the close confines of the Tomkah anyway.

Larik is surprised Lama created a Sabaac deck. He's shown no interest in the game in the, admittedly short, time they'd known each other. As a long-time gambler, he was wary but gave his compatriot the benefit of the doubt.

"Sure Lama," Larik says, drawing out the shh part of the word sure. "We can use your deck. But if it turns out to have a glitch or anything we'll just go back to using mine."

He takes the deck from Lama, gives it a quick shuffle and tosses cards face down to himself and the other three players.

"Low card gets the deal. Lets play some Sabaac."

The four turn up their cards and Wyre ends up with the lowest. Larik passes the deck to him and tosses 15 credits into the middle of the table.

Lama follows Larik's lead, throws 15 credits in and looks at his cards. (OOC: are we doing a competitive check to decide who wins?)

Wyre follows suit and throws 15 credits in before saying, "Wait, this isn't Poker, the cards are all shifty and keep changing their values, how the hell do I play this?"

Wale chimes in, after throwing some creds in the pot, "The goal is to reach 23, positive or negative, the closest to it wins."

(OOC: No, we will make a check with 2 purple, each success gets you a share of the pot, starting with the dealer.)

Mulak sits back and watches them play. He is happy to relax his mind for a bit.

Lama deals out the second hand of cards, while surreptitiously hitting the mark button,meaning that he'll be able to see what the others have. Then throws 15 credits into the pot. Current Winnings :21 Credits;

"Hey, not bad for your first time Wyre," Larik says. "No matter how good you are, the shifts can trip you up."

He tosses 15 more credits into the middle of the table and carefully watches Lama deal.

Larik peeks at his cards and can barely contain his excitement at popping a natural positive 23, but in his years of gambling he's learned it's a very good idea to restrain yourself when taking other people's money. Especially when you barely know them.

"Well, I tell you, if we were at a cantina or casino, I'd be buying drinks for the three of you," he says, showing his hand, which wins the full 60-credit pot. "I'm up for the opportunity to return you your money, but I'm leaving that up to you guys. Want to go another round?"

"I've played this before, and the way I played it was that we kept track of how many rounds we did. Then after we finished, everyone left with however much money they had brought, the winner got bragging rights and five credits from the other players, per round that they played. So right now Larik is wining because of the hand he just won. Does that sound good to everyone?"

"That seems like a thing we'd agree on prior to starting, but it's a friendly game," Larik says, slightly perturbed. "I'll go with the will of the table."
