The Shadows Mark

"I had some concerns about him to begin with, but he's proved himself. He's no Imperial anymore," Larik says. "I'll get him here."

Then into his comlink.

"Wale, you're the only one that hasn't met the newcomer. He's asking questions I don't have answers to. Meet us in the Mynock's cargo hold."

"So, this is the new guy you woke me up from my nap to meet? Seems like another random Mandolorian Merc if you ask me."

You trying to insult me? Larik said that you could tell me more about the force.

"I can't," he points to the Acklay, "He's the one to bond to"

Maybe later. I was just almost eaten by a bunch of savage creatures. I think I can wait to learn more.

So after some wonderful conversation, you are called to feast, which is a big celebration in witch there are many competitions which you may take part in. Just ask and I'll tell you weather or not the competition exists.

Is there a competition to see who has the biggest weapon? I think Khit has that covered! Otherwise some kind of strength and coordination challenge, think Ninja Warrior or Total Wipeout.

Vote for this.

Being disinterested in physical competitions, Naught wanders through the camp, past groups engaged in marksmanship contests or feats of strength, and stumbles upon a group gathered around a fire regaling each other with stories. Naught stops and listens, hearing them tell boastful stories about their lineage and the clan's achievements as well as the oral history of the world.

Larik follows Naught's lead, eschewing the physical contests so that he might do some investigating into the Shadow Broker.

He floats between groups of feasting Krogans and chooses his words with care, trying to not give up too much, but quickly realizes he doesn't really have much to give up. The group has already been on the planet too long for his liking and events have spiraled well beyond their control. It's time to refocus on why they're there and get some information.

Throughout the night, thanks largely to impressive amounts of liquor consumption by the Krogan natives, he has been able to piece together what he thinks may be the start of a lead to follow, but he's not sure and wants to bring what he's found to the rest of his group.

Khit, bored waiting for the party to kick off jumps on GupGups back and starts riding him around the camp.

Survival for Trick Riding on my Ronto : 2eA+1eP+2eB+2eC 3 successes, 3 advantage

Tricks on my Ronto(Coordination) : 2eA+1eP+2eC+1eF 2 successes, 3 threat, 1 Dark Side

Khit rides well, controlling Gup confidently, the Ronto taking her slightly drunk state calmly and remaining steady as she climbs atop his head and stands arms wide. Its a dangerous trick that Khit would not normally attempt, falling off in the past had made her vow to not attempt this again. But with the excitement in camp, some alcohol in her blood and the recent victory getting to her she boldly attempts it. Gup weaves smoothly through the huts and tents, Krogans watching her pass all clap, surprised at the dexterity and control she shows. The hooting and hollering rises to a crescendo until with one bold leap she flips up into the air, flipping a somersault, and landing on Gupgups saddle, landing hard she is winded for some time, but manages to hide it until dismounting. The crowd claps, patting her on the back when she finally dismounts. Time for another drink "Wheres that corellian whisky?"

Larik is sitting back in the ship's cargo hold, nursing the last 1/3 of the bottle he'd found and mulling over what information he's discovered. His internal musings are interrupted by a mixture of cheers and gasps from outside, Larik strides down the boarding ramp to investigate the ruckus.

The look on his face morphs from curiosity to bemusement almost instantly as he watches Khit parading around the Krogan camp in a cavalier display of which he'd not previously considered her capable. His right hand covers his mouth and stifles a few chuckles trying to escape.

OOC: I don't know how to do the spoiler tag so I'm posting a hard perception check with one boost because of Khit's inebriation.

Perception to see if he notices Khit's hard landing : 2eA+1eP+1eB+3eD 0 successes, 2 advantage

Nope. He's impressed. The advantage I'll use to, I don't know, make sure there's enough Whyren's Reserve left in the bottle for Khit.

His shoulders shudder from laughter as Khit makes her unorthodox dismount and he raises the bottle of whiskey high above his head as a beacon for her to home in on after the Nautolan calls - with just a hint of slur - for a drink.
"Over here daredevil queen," Larik calls. "There's just a bit left."
"Probably more than you need at this point," he adds quietly to himself.

Jayson sits on the ground meditating, trying to ignore Khit's antics.(And failing)

After he grabs some food and water, Jayson is ready to go.

Deciding she's had enough of Krogan war stories and legends, Naught replenishes her supply of rations and gets her speeder ready to go.

Larik follows suit and hops into Naught's sidecar.

"I'll do my best to stay in this time," he says with a smile. "But, no promises."

Khit prepares her packs, loading all her wilderness gear into GupGups saddle bags and filling the water pouch. She grabs some final food and mounts up ready to depart.

The Chieftain approaches the group as they prepare "your short stay with us has been most enjoyable, thank you for your entertainment and company. We have a small number of warriors who wish to accompany you, 6 will help guide you and help you in this difficult place." The six come forward all prepared, they have 3 rugged looking swoops between them, certainly not the fastest but reliable enough. "We will care for your ship and those who wait behind, uncover what you must and return in haste, we will see you all soon."

(OOC those Krogan are Minions, I need to come up with stats; 3,2,2,2,3,1 I think should do it. 4 Soak 1 Defence, 6WT each. Skills are Resilience, Brawl, Rng(Hvy). Equipped with Carbines, and general survival gear. Can be grouped however: 2x3 or 1x6. Basically something for you social characters to direct and interact with, possibly a meat shield if the life of others is not that important to you :P )

Realizing that the group is lacking in medical supplies, Naught stops to acquire some from the Krogan, then helps Larik replace some of his bandages and applies new antiseptic. "If you stay in the sidecar, perhaps you can avoid future injuries," she remarks wryly.

And so the long trek begins. 7 silhouettes moving in convoy off into the ruined maze of buildings that makes up hundreds of kilometres in every direction. 10 humanoids of various origin, 5 swoops of as many styles and one Ronto. With supplies for twice as long as the trip is expected to take (18 days worth) the party can move cautiously, watching for dangers and taking minimal risks. Shelters at night are the only thing necessary along the way with a need to protect against any predators who stray too close.

With the massive structure of the crashed ISD on the distant horizon as a guide the party winds their way through the rubble (imagine the ruined towns that the soldiers move through in Saving Private Ryan), there was little chance of getting entirely lost. The Krogan companions also knew this area relatively well and so the first day went smoothly, they even knew of an ancient abandoned library that still stands for the group to use for shelter that night.

Let's have an Average Perception from one PC for the days travel, upgraded once because this is a dangerous place, add 2 Boost for all the extra pairs of eyes, but 2 setback as well since it's a big noisy group.

Afterward there will need to be a watch set overnight, everyone will need to remove 1 days food from their list but we will deal with that once the perception check is made. I have included Khit in the group for help and assistance, but she won't be making active party rolls. If skilled assistance is needed during narrative play you guys can use her ranks in skills.

The day moves without incident, only a couple of rubble piles make for longer than expected detours. Your becoming accustomed to the occasional distant gunshot, unnerving as that thought may be. As the sun is setting the Krogan lead you to the deserted library, its crumbling walls and partly collapsed ceiling failing to impact the majestic nature of the structure. Four stories tall, constructed of midnight blue stone blocks each meters wide, it imposes on the surrounding landscape. A grand entrance lined with columns greets you, although the front door has long ago collapsed, or been blocked, your unable to tell. The Krogan lead you around the side of the building to where a much less formal entrance awaits you, wide enough to allow the swoops to enter, Gup has to squeeze but gets through as well. Inside its dark owing to the nature of the blocks, but your eyes adjust quickly and you see a vast room before you, nearby is whats clearly a regularly used camp, with fire pit with wood, water and a sheltered area for sleeping. If you had to guess the only entrance was the one you just came through, unless you fancy a challenging and treacherous climb with overhangs and crumbling walls.

Naught sets up her hammock, but before turning in for the night, she can't resist exploring the library and checking to see if any of the texts are still legible.

Quite quickly you discover this was a library devoted to the art of war, it appears to cover a broad history of war through the galaxy as well as early history of war on this planet. There are large shelves throughout that would have once housed many hundreds of thousands of data disks, unfortunately many are empty or near empty, their contents smashed on the floor or just missing. Others show significant signs of ageing and are likely no longer functional, dust covers everything, even still there is a large number still intact. During your exploration you notice a number of computer terminals, most of which are dysfunctional or just plain smashed. Somehow you manage to find a terminal thats beeps when you power it up, a broad holographic screen materialises in front of you and a cloaked figure stands before you, a lore keeper of ancient origins. During the start up process you notice the log, its been powered down for over 1000 years!

The being begins communicating with you trying various languages before finally it stops talking, just staring at you and seemingly awaiting a response.

You now have a number of choices if you would like to learn anything else:

Average Computers with 2 setback for dark and age of system to find a way to translate the lore keepers language.

Hard Mechanics check to rig up some kind of translator, again with 2 setback

Hard Lore check to recognise one of these languages used by the Lore Keeper, i cant think of a reason to add a setback to this, sorry!

Momentarily stunned at her luck in finding a functional holographic guide, Naught quickly begins cycling through her known languages, current and ancient. Despite her broad studies of alien languages and her vocoders ability to mimic a variety of speech patterns, however, nothing seems to gain any recognition from the lore keeper. Sitting back on her haunches, she masters her frustration and considers her next move.

After half an hour of mucking around with trying to get this terminal to work you eventually try a new line of code, unfortunately it overrides an interlock on a couple of relays and shorts out the power supply, the resultant bang, smell of burnt electronics and the smoke coming out of the console are all a good sign of the end you have brought upon this device. Larik sets off to try and find another functioning console, thankfully there are plenty of possibilities due to the size of this library. Luck shines on the Human, his search takes him right to the other end of the building, but eventually one of the terminals responds, most importantly this one appears modified. At some point in the past an inquisitive mind has modified this console which now responds immediately in an older form of Galactic Basic

While all this goes on Khit is in the camp area feeding Gup as well as investigating her pack for her own meal. As she is rummaging through her pack she suddenly hears a scuffling at the entrance followed by a screech and then Wale enters leading a semi reluctant Acklay into the building. Wale has finally managed to catch up to you, relying on his ability to sense the direction of his friends he managed to locate this building.

"Wale!" Khit cries out "You near gave me a heart attack, took your sweet time catching up buddy, get over here and have something to eat... Arkady i bet your hungry too?"
