Tournament Tomorrow, List Help Appreciated!

By AngryAlbatross, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I have a store championship tomorrow and I want to be somewhat competitive even though I am going mainly for the fun of playing x wing all afternoon. I am a huge fan of A-Wings and I think they are a good fit for the current tlt/brobots meta since they can focus/evade/autothrusters their way out of most damage, so I am unwilling to drop them. That said, I have two lists I am thinking of for this tournament and could use some input.

My thought was that Jake and Tycho should be able to PRocket one enemy ship to death in the initial encounter and then outmaneuver whatever is left. Dutch I included because he can boost with r7-t1 to get out of arc (or into range 1 with the autoblaster), or he could ion cannon a soontir or a darth to set it up for Jake/Tycho. Also Dutch being ps 6 means if i get initiative he would move after a non-vi bro-bots squad, which I think autoblaster turret would really help against.
My real question is, should I go with wired/autothrusters on tycho for extra survivability? or should I go for extra manuverability of daredevil/experimental interface? Or should I drop Dutch and get something else? I am open to any list that includes Jake and Tycho if you guys have better ideas. (I have every rebel expansion except the k-wing, x-wing and t-70 x-wing).

I generally prefer Tycho with VI, instead of something like Wired, because he can up his defense by being able to dodge more arcs.

Barring that, have any access at all to Juke? It's promote you to fly safer (by always taking an evade), and can make even the two dice attack a bit more effective.

Juke came with the TIE/FO only, so it sounds like it's outside your faction of purchase (of course, ATs were too, so?).

Alpha Strike A wings only really work if you are guaranteed to get the first shot off, or at least be able to maneuver after your opponent to guarantee the range 1 shot and still have your focus available.

If you must have prockets on your ships, then here is my suggestions Keep them both the same setup.

A Wing Test Pilot, Prockets, VI, Autothrusters, PTL. Total points for Jake and Tycho - 68

For 32 points add Horton + R2 Astro + TLT

Dutch will be going far to slow to be able to reliably pass that target lock......

@ArbitraryNerd. I feel like the extra boostlike action of daredevil helps him dodge arcs better than VI. And I only have one VI card :( I have a lot of imperial and scum expansions too, but not the TIE/FO expansion unfortunately. Otherwise juke sounds great!

@emmjay. You are absolutely correct. I think without PRockets, A-Wings don't have enough firepower to be worth it in the meta. I am counting on being able to outmaneuver the enemy and am hoping that if I do face a similar ps squad, my 99 point initiative bid wil help me do that. Unfortunately I only have one VI card and don't have a TLT. If I did I would definitely take Horton cause he is great!

AA,

I like your first list's A-Wing load outs. Wired plus PTL and AT sound promising for what upgrades you have available. "Psycho Tycho" with EI and Daredevil is pretty potent with Prockets, but I would not run it with another A-Wing. I would focus more on overall defense after your Prockets are gone.

...and for the Y the only change I would consider is maybe dropping your astromech on dutch down to a generic R2 and add a Bomb loadout and seismic charge (if you have Most Wanted expansion). The bomb might make your opponent second guess where they move if they come in too close to Dutch and your A's should be able to get out of the area quickly. If you do not have access to Most Wanted, you could keep R7 to use as you stated.

Thats a good point. The bomb load out could really give me some flexibility. I have noticed that the boosting ability of r7-t1 is very limited in its arc dodgingness.

I went with this list and got 2nd place! 3-1! Lost to the winner who was running Scum Fett with VI and two BTL4 TLT Y-Wings. I blew my Prockets on Boba and in the end Jake got killed by the last TLT while trying to finish Fett off (he only had 2 hull left). Having the 99 pt initiative buy was really helpfu!. Allowed me to beat VI Brobots, Luke Biggs Poe, and Whisper Rexler.

Having autothrusters and wired really made tycho much more survivable. Also Dutch was the star of the show, especially against the brobots. He kept pounding them with the ion cannon and managed to really disrupt their moves. R7-T1 let him dodge one or two arcs, so I think it was worth it. Definitely will fly this list again, just wish I had another wired card!
