I nominate Cubanboy for always posting on friday, VanorDM for always posting on rules, Khyros for always posting on A-wings, MajorJuggler for always posting on math, and ParagoombaSlayer for always posting turrets are auto-win, then contradicting himself by asking what the best Dual Deci builds are ![]()
An X-Wing Hall of Fame - Who would you vote in?
Sorry, but that's one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard.
Cheers

Lol your signature always gets me.
We're just having some pre-weekend fun. Purely hypothetical!
Yeah, I do want to point out this is just a 'for fun' thread. And this is mostly just for some fun debate and discussion.
That all being said, I do not think it would be such a bad idea.
...I do not think it would be such a bad idea.
We still joking, right?

Call it a "hall of fame" or just a fun way to recognize people in the community, I like it. Someone said the hall of fame should be reserved for good players not good people. Now I may be a little (a lot, like super) biased, but I completely disagree.
I completely agree that people with extraordinary skill deserve their recognition and I'm sure we could list them all day based on raw skill like most of the TC Aces, skill with a particular list like Dallas Parker, or meta bending skill like Kinetic Operator.
On the other side, I think that the people who put in massive amounts of work to create content, deliver utilities, and work behind the scenes deserve recognition for what they've done for this community.
- Podcasts like Team Covenant and NovaSquadronRadio as a whole or in part. (yeah Ed, you started this conversation, but lets face it, you're a big deal now and have contributed a huge number of hours to this community)
- Mu0n and your Vassal team - The fact that it even exists from a programming and legal standpoint is huge! Keeping it up to date with every little spoiler and functionality improvements. My hats off to you.
- MajorJuggler - Beyond your jabbering on the podcast, the things you do on the forums are awesome as well as help behind the scenes with so many projects. Not to mention dat sticky thread.
- Sozin - ListJuggler is awesome and provides and endless amount of information for people to scour over.
- Also the countless people who's names are listed on MajorJuggler's sticky thread. All that content is amazing and bonkers useful for new players and veterans alike.
- All the people who spend countless hours putting together some of the massive events be it for charity or regionals or just for fun. It takes a ridiculous amount of work and we enjoy the hell out of it.
- And yeah, i'll do it, screw modesty. I'll admit I scrolled through this thread looking for my name. Myself and everyone who has helped along the way to make Cryodex what it is. Go us!
I'm sure I've forgotten some awesome people as part of this, but regardless of my lacking memory you're all great! Taking this from being just a game of pushing plastic ships around and turning into something more. It has been great working with you all! I hope it keeps on going!
End rant-like-nominations? Now I need a beer...
Edited by KillerardvarkI nominate Andrea Angiolino for essentially inventing X-wing's movement system back in Wings of War, and Jay Little at FFG for adapting it into the current Flight Path system. The movement system is the best thing about X-wing, followed by the IP.
Edited by MajorJugglerChris - your work and Cryodex was also on my short list of 'should be ins' also!
And thanks for the nod BTW. I feel like that there are a few more folks who deserve to be in before we as a cast would be considered, though. But I love the idea...lol
Wil Wheaton, for arguably bringing this game to more people than anybody else.
hothie.
First World Champion and the founder of Fly Casual.

Hear hear MajorJuggler! I know the flight path system was a huge selling point for me! Also of course Star Wars!
Killer Aardvark for his amazing work on Cryodex
What about the young lad from this years world's ( I know its 2016 but you know what I mean ). The teenager who lost to Paul in the final. He did really well.
Special mention should probably also go out to all the labourers that manage to crank out thousands of paint jobs better than I could manage.

Say what you will about him, but I never heard of this game until I saw that video. As a matter of fact I never set foot in a FLGS until I started watching his series.
The Baseball hall of fame started some 30 years after that game developed to the point where they had enough teams and following to invent the World Series. This is an interesting and fun discussion but lets wait till maybe 2022. Then if we have 2 or 3 multiple world champs or some 4 time Australian Champ type players then I think it could become a realistic topic.
For now, I agree with those that feel we could have a player category and a support/development category for people who worked on the game and community leaders who make videos, mathwingers, squad builders, etc. that really impact the community in a positive way.
Oh, I had heard of the game, but not being a miniatures gamer myself was a bit hesitant. After watching that video and the ease of play and the fun they had I bought the core set. Then I noticed some mistakes they made, but who cares? The essentials of the game were clear: it was fast, it wasn't too difficult to get into and it was fun.
Aye, Wil Wheaton's video was the thing that convinced me to buy the game.
If there is ever anything remotely like this that happens I would greatly prefer that it has nothing whatsoever to do with how good anyone is at playing the game.It is allready way way WAY heavily weighted to competitive play.wich is fine but there's just enough of that already.
The forums in general, the first half of all the podcasts, and 99 percent of the YouTube material is all geared towards competition play. The last thing I would want to see is another aspect of "look at how great we are" floating around.
If anything like a hall of fame were to happen I would push that it involves something more like recognising real world accomplishments.
The only person I can see fitting the bill to me is the gut that does the cancer fundraiser stuff.
Whose name eludes me,but I can easily name like 5-10 of the most accomplished plastic pushers in the world.
Seems....wierd.
But....for funsies...I'd vote for the fella that won a store championships with two starvipers ;D
Bob Randall and all the math he has done for the game gets my vote.
I nominate the four people who row the boat here from China

I hear they're upgrading it to 4 guys flapping their arms to fly across. Much faster
Aaron Utley for running the repaint and modification group on facebook.
The top players get enough recognition. People who grow the community don't get nearly enough.

I think that is Ken at Sunrise but I'm not 100% on that.

You wouldn't even play this game if it wasn't painted, now would you? (Most of you.)
Obviously I should be there, just because.
No I'm kidding. The list so far is fair.
