Ordnance Expert or APT on Forsight?

By chriscook, in Star Wars: Armada

There is one situation where I feel Foresight might be better than Admonition, and that is facing barrages of 7+ dice. Ackbar MC80's, ISD front arcs, etc, when NOT facing Xi-7's. And that's purely because Foresight's pseudo-AP effect lets you survive an extra three damage while negating/modifying two damage, , whereas Admonition can only affect 2 dice.

Now that's a fairly specific situation and will depend on your meta, but around here I see a lot of ISD's....and strangely enough I don't see a lot of XI-7's.

That's fair, but that's also why, at least for me, Foresight was a bit of a trap. When you think about it and, so long as you have a redirect, you're like yeah! I can survive 11 damage and a ram and not die! Woo! And you think you and Foresight will hang out and, so long as you have each other, you'll share in the laughter and love for all the live long day.

However, and I learned this the hard way after many games, is that even Foresight burns down hard under fire, though you sort of feel like it shouldn't. And you have maybe one round of a hit like that you can survive, and can die by even light fire from either another ship or arc.

I do agree. If you're facing say an ISD with no XI7s, you can sort of breathe easy, and its a great title. I always run both titles if I'm rocking a Mon Mothma. But so long as your opponent doesn't have shenanigans like tractor beams, you shouldn't have to sit in blue range of an ISD long enough to take the hits. For me, the most survivable aspect of MC30s is their speed and navigation. And yeah, speed 4 is squirrely but its so great to be able to go from front of an ISD to the side or rear.

Of course, I am but one opinion, and your playstyle could vary greatly from mine. So I guess I think it best to try both with different loadouts to find out what works best for you. More games is always a bonus.

Ackbar on a Torpedo with OE, APT, and TRC. I put redundant shields on as well

Why not go scout in this instance? Torpedo wont get the benefit of ackbar until you hit medium range.

The better question is why TRC - without native red dice, just seems iffy to me. I like double-arcing too much to go MC30 with Akbar. Too much fun to roll 5 damage and watch my opponent's expression when I tell them that was the light arc.

You get Ackbar's red dice when you hit blue range and TRC affects those.
