Theme song for your campaign and/or character

By Pyrus, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So, I didn't see a similar thread when I did a search, and the question struck me...

If your campaign had a theme song, what would it be? If your character had a theme song, what would it be?

For me, I'd see it this way, though some of the other players and the GM might have differing opinions. Our characters are not good people. Beyond that, my character is an ex-mob assassin turned bounty hunter... he's a Kel-Dor, and guilt about his past has sort of pushed him to become judge, jury, and executioner all rolled into one. It has twisted the innate severe sense of justice his species is known for into something glorious and terrifying.

Campaign: The Heavy - Short Change Hero

Character: Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down

Benny Hill...

Depending on how my party feels the campaign theme can swing from We Are the Champions to Sick Puppies' song You're Going Down.

Campaign:

Barra Barra - Rachid Taha

Raid Music:

When The Man Comes Around - Johnny Cash

Cal Coda:

Big Gun - AC/DC

The Epic Duel w. Vader:

To Glory - Two Steps From Hell (Extended)

I was talking to my GM a while back about the Imperial trenching tool and linked him this video about the Chinese trenching tool. So now the song in the video is apparently my character's theme song. :P

One GM I had used Revan's Theme from TOR online whenever the big bad villain showed up, it was great really added some flavor. In the current campaign I'm running I plan on using several different songs for different situations, like whenever the PCs duel the big bad pirate captain villain I'll play Wings of Icarus, and when they fight his ships in space it will be Mass Effect 2 collector ship music. I hope it works out well.

Our campaign would have to be the A Team theme, it's always good to bring that out whenever the PCs do something crazy/reckless, so it happens a fair bit.

I'm favoring The Sound of Silence for my new Jedi Shadow. Possibly the recent cover done by Disturbed.

She's still a work in progress so this is subject to change, but I'd totally have to steal Triple H's entrance at WrestleMania XXVII

With some Vince McMann swagger thrown in for good measure:

Benny Hill...

It's actually called Yakkity Sax.

For the game I run: Weird Al Yankovic: Dare to be Stupid.

For the game I play my "force sensitive but doesn't believe in the force its just luck" starfighter pilot: The Touch. But also falls into the above, because all players do.

Funny. Our F&D game was born of a humorous A-Team riff:

Eight years ago, the Jedi Order was framed and wiped out for a treason it did not commit. A cadre of survivors promptly evaded their would-be executioners and escaped the from the Emperor into the galactic underword. Today, still hunted by Imperial inquisitors, they survive as beacons of hope to an oppressed galaxy. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can entreat... Saber Cell.

Queue A-Team theme.

Of course, it looks nothing like the A-Team, but that's what inspired it.

Choices (Yup) - E-40

We did the song passing thing, and it was a lot of fun. Some group already took the Benny Hill theme, so I'll just list my own characters best theme song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKnZg4bBfZ0 Within Temptation - Lost

I based events in my characters past springboarding off of that band's entire catalog... luckily they have a lot of great songs! :)

I made a theme variation set on the Star Wars theme... and did a crawl for the Escape from Mos Shuuta from the text in the adventure. Some of my players actively hate it. C'est la guerre.

Well, since my character is an Ace - Hotshot/Rigger/Pilot/Gadgeteer/Recruit/Driver (and Corellian to boot) working up to Squadron Leader there is only 1 theme song that fits so far...

The running theme for the local game is 'Karma Chameleon', after the crew's ship.

The morally ambiguous ship that slips in and out. Yellowy with red and green markings.

Best of all, no one actually likes the song.

Along these lines, we are searching for Cantina music for different venues in our games. I saw this fellow play on tour in Australia a year ago, it's perfect for Cantina entertainment.

I picked this one for my Astromech Technician: https://youtu.be/sG9H5E2JN3s?t=25s

I tend towards instrumental songs for all of my characters, because it's easier to get the emotional quality right when there are lyrics mucking things up and carrying contradictory meanings.

I like it.

I'm a Brit; former New Romantic. Saw 'em in concert many times in the early 80's. Met George O'Dowd a few times; lovely bloke.

Anyway, all our PCs have their own theme songs and many have a few. You can see 'em at... the place where you can see our stuff *cough*

I make a lot of use of music during our games; both thematic songs and the movie soundtracks, which are still great.

As for theme songs, the GM character I play to give the players hints and emotional support has her own, to the tune of Beck Hansen''s slacker anthem, 'Loser''. I, um, changed the lyrics...

“In the time of Galactic Civil War, I was a junkie

Spice in my veins like a Kowakian lizard-monkey

With the scum and villainy always trying to finger me

Things are looking ugly, like gamorreans in lingerie

They say to pick a side but I wanna stay neutral

Like a pod-racer flaming with the brat on the cruise-control

The squid guy warns us that ‘it’s a trap!’

But Jen’s got a new ship and we make out in the back

Someone keeps saying I’m insane to complain it’s hard

When Alderaan is blown up and reduced to ‘The Graveyard’

And then you get stuck on a distant asteroid

You get a parking violation and a mynock on your droid

I shaved my legs with a lightsabre fetish

Lose a few limbs and fix up with cybernetics

Yo… slice it…!

Klaatu Barada Nikto!

I’m a gungan, baby…

So why don’t you kill me?

Klaatu Barada Nikto!

I’m an ewok, baby…

So why don’t you shoot me?

The ‘forces of evil’ turn out nicer than the Jedi

Enslaving Dathomir with the Sith and the dead-eye

Old Ben’s got a space weasel, fluffy in his bed

The Empire’s in the black, the Alliance in the red

Annoying little brat gets burned in the lava

Dresses up in black and says ‘I am your father!’

Off to Chalmun’s cantina to slake my thirst

There’s a bounty hunter there but the smuggler shoots first

The twi’lek dancer strangled Jabba with her g-string

Fed his body to the sarlaac, flew away on an X-wing

I can’t feel free with the Black Sun thugs

Trade the credits for the spice, for the liquor, for the drugs

And my time is an exploding Death Star

Falling upon Endor…

… which is burning up the nub-nubs..!”

Take it you're a big fan of "Strike Back?"

And my various characters' theme song is always the same: "In 3's" by the Beastie Boys.

I edited on Audacity a 'mash-up' of the Star wars theme... after about 5 seconds it switches to the original 60s star trek theme... it serves 2 purposes:

1 - a tongue in cheek tribute to JJ Adams

2 - to p*** off my GM

My character, Riley, fits "The Scavenger" from The Force Awakens exceptionally well. In fact, whenever I play her, that song is all that blares in my head.

That said, if I ever play a Wookiee, my theme song will have to be DVDA's "I am Chewbacca." ^_^
