Dimensions of some ships

By Shinwakin, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I am looking at doing a story based in Star Wars for me and some of my friends and I need to find the dimensions of some of the ships. I need height width and length if possible. They are A GR-75, the Hwk-290, JumpMaster 5000, the Y-wing, the Kihraxz,the M3-A Scyk, the Tie fighter, the Tie bomber, and the Z-95 head hunter.

If any one could help out I would be grateful.

I have found that Wikipedia will give the length of ships but doesn't cover the width or height. I am hoping someone know a source that has all three.

If you have the actual FFG models of these it will be super easy. I will measure these and post my findings here.

Using the FFG models is an excellent way of determining the dimensions, all you need is a "canon" measurement that you like and hey presto the other dimensions materialize!

Wookiepedia measurements are shown in red.

L = Length (m)

W = Width (m)

H = Height (m)

GR75

L = 90m

The FFG model scales at about 1/400 so L = 92m, W = 26m, H = 16m

Hwk290

L = 29m

If the FFG model is at 1/270 scale then it's dimensions are: L = 17.6m, W = 13.5m, H = 5.4m

If FFG made a mistake and used 1/450 scale: L = 29.3m, W = 22.5m, H = 9m

Z-95

L = 11.8m

At 1/270 scale L = 12.15m, W = 9.45m, H = 2.7m

Y wing

L = 16m

At 1/270 scale L = 16.2m, W = 9.45m, H = 1.9m

TIE Fighter

L = 9.0m

At 1/270 scale L = 8.9m, W = 8.1m, H = 10.8m

TIE Bomber

L = 9.2m

At 1/270 scale L = 9.45m, W = 10.8m, H = 5.94m

Kihraxz

L = ???

At 1/270 scale L = 12.15m, W = 10.8m, H = 3.2m

Scyk

L = ???

At 1/270 scale L = 9.45m, W = 8.1m, H = 2.1m

Jumpmaster 5000

L = 20.1m

W = 20.7m

H = 3.5m

I think he is looking for the dimensions of the "real" ships, not models.

As the FFG Models of small and large ships (not huge) is 1/270, this is the same thing. They are very accurate to what is supposed to be the "real" ship. Only when you get to the huge models do you get into the fuzzy feel-good size (between 350 and 450 from what I have heard and can vary per ship).

Measure, multiply by 270.

Done.

That was easy :)

If FFG made a mistake and used 1/450 scale:

The wookieepedia size for the HWK-290 is wrong. Some source listed 29m but the Moldy Crow was never that big, video from JK 1&2 make that quite clear.

Typo: The Moldy Crow was destroyed in JK1, I believe you mean DF1 and 2. ;)

It was? Been a year or two since I played it, but I thought it was in JK2...

No, JK2 is Outcast, which introduces the Raven's Claw. The Moldy Crow is destroyed in JK1 if you take the lightside path (which all video games with multiple choice are canonically lightside within the Legends continuity).

Ok, I think I remember that now.

Thanks everyone this will make this a lot easier.
