The Shadows Mark OOC

By killakan, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

One way you could do it if we botch the plan with the Imps, flee towards the slaves compound to make them think we were working for the slavers all along. The problem in either case is the fact that the racist Imperials might kill the slaves too

Queg: *teasing Larik* Ha. He called you "son". You a daddy's boy?

So is the partially open door outside the ship or deeper inside it?

What are we looking at to get to it and investigate?

The narrative makes it sound like an exterior hangar door

It's high up in the air on the outside. This particular ISD has hangers along the outward facing "knife edges" of the wedge. The one you're in is toward the pointy end of the ship, on the elevated side of the ship. But because this one is near the front it's not too high. The one slightly open at the rear could be over 200m off the ground (I actually don't know exactly due to scale, angles etc but a long way up).

If we look at this image again:

Then the hanger your in is on the left of image, facing away from the camera, lower to the ground.

The one you could try to get into is on the right of image, facing away from the camera, basically near the command super structure

Alrighty then. Sounds like we're going climbing.

How should we go about tackling this behemoth?

Raw athletics checks for climbing

A few obvious paths spring to mind:

Cut through internal and use any duct or uncommon path possible, safest but slowest

Shimmy along the knife edge, risky but fast

Get on to of the ISD then repell down the side to the hanger door or find a hatch on top that you could enter through, bit slower with the up and down, but risk is reduced.

Find a flying vehicle that can hover close enough to jump from vehicle to hanger, very fast if you can find a vehicle, but super risky.

I vote for option 2

Lalam volunteers to make the climb. Subconsciously he un-commits Brawn, but gets to add the Force die to his athletics check. He can carry some rope to make the climb easier for the next person.

So, What be we doing?

Choose your path, I'll set the difficulty. Queg will need to either find his own way, find something else to do, or find a way to meet up with everyone out of Imperial sight

Assuming shimmying along the "knife edge" requires a coordination check, Queg will try that. I also assume a Stealth check will be required to get out without being seen, which he will wait to do after the named officers have left the hangar

Ok. Your going to be quite exposed on the outside, making the stealth harder, but doable.

The others will be able to work as a team, each doing a single skill check to see how the group go, I'll set difficultys once everyone has a plan.

I imagine we'll send Lalam up with 50 meters of rope, have him tie it off, then we use the rope to assist our climb up. Lather, rinse, repeat until we've made it up the full 200 meters.

Going along the outside, I mean.

Up the knife edge or just climbing?

The knife edge is more like edging along a narrow path at the top of a massive cliff. Ropes will slow you down but make falling much less risky.

Is there any time pressure on us? It seems going slower and safer is a better option if not, especially since we're not the most athletic party.

Up the knife edge or just climbing?

Using ropes to more safely traverse the knife edge.

There isn't any obvious time pressure, other than perhaps finding out what the Imps do when they discover Quegs escape!

Up the knife edge or just climbing?

Using ropes to more safely traverse the knife edge.

Lalam's ready, what's the difficulty?

Average, Upgraded twice due to the narrow ledge, wind, rain and severe risk of death... Add 2 boost for the Rope. CCBB

What's my stealth check difficulty?

And I assume my coordination check will be the same difficulty?
