tri deck

By Darknight4, in Call of Cthulhu Deck Construction

well i play cthulhu because i must, its his game, and really the big guy should be the biggest badass around, but....

my hastur cthulhu just doesnt play how i want, specially now i play againt a shub/agency deck, much harder to send insane..

soooo my other fav deck is my yog/shub, what about a yog/shub/cthulhu deck?

must have the big guy in in some form, and theres no reason not to have yog sothoth as he can come out easily for around cost four with the right cards

a couple of ravagers from the deep, some dark ones, sons of yeb, even shub himself can be in it,

so characters no problem.

but a good selection of event/support cards i need about 20, i dont mind going up to a 53 card deck, soooo lets have some good recomendations

2x journey to the other side could be usefull

2x single glimpse ?

3x opener of the gate

gathering at the shores

sword of y ha tallo

deep one assault

ghoul taint

regeneration

there are sooo many i could put in i have considered dropping characters to around 28, to allow the big guys to build up, as the lower cost cards will be quite week and some i will need later, needless to say i dont want it for a comp deck.

more the point is do you think it will work, and allow me to play my fav 3 factions ?

Hey!

In my opinion, in the current LCG format, a tri deck isn't a very good idea but i still took a little time to try and build something

After a bit on pondering.... here is a "list" :

Yog

2x •Yog-Sothoth, In Whom the Spheres Meet
2x Gathering at the Stones
3x Journey to the Other Side
3x Opener of the Gate
3x Tcho-Tcho Tribe
3x Cannibal Ghast
3x Unspeakable Resurrection
3x Twilight Gate

Cthulhu

2x Sword of Y'ha-tallo
3x Lord of the Silver Twilight
3x Young Deep One
3x Get it Off!
2x The Thing from the Shore

Shub

3x Degenerate Ghoul
3x Ghoul Taint
3x Mi-Go Warrior
3x Burrowing Beneath
3x Twilight Cannibal

Now, for the functionality in my opinion:

Yog

•Yog-Sothoth, In Whom the Spheres Meet - A beast (speaks for itself)
Gathering at the Stones - Recurring removal effects and even characters.
Journey to the Other Side - Using at the end of the turn of your opponent to "predict" the next five turns
Opener of the Gate - Cost reducing Yog-Sothoth
Tcho-Tcho Tribe - A bit costy but still good character
Cannibal Ghast - RushInitial Defense
Unspeakable Resurrection - Recurring characters
Twilight Gate - Use this for a final strike or in a case of needing defense.

Cthulhu

Sacrificial Offerings - A good defense card
Lord of the Silver Twilight - A good defense
Young Deep One - Defense card
Get it Off! - Anti-attachments
The Terror of the Tides - Another beast or last minute defense.

Shub

Degenerate Ghoul - A somewhat good defense
Ghoul Taint - A "removal" tool
Mi-Go Warrior - Regeneration like effect
Burrowing Beneath - Supporter removal
Twilight Cannibal - A good character, if your metagame does not have day and night manipulation

As for DOA, i don't think it would be suited for a tri faction deck because it would be difficult to get the needed Loyal resources to cast it at a good level.

Hope this helped!

Cheers

theres some good cards in that list mate, not sure of all of them for me but, ill give it a try, i did want one of each factions big guys in and i think one or two others but ill try it tonight possibly and see how it goes, :)

do u guys all buy like 2-3 copies of every pack?

not nesarily, sometimes more.......lol sorpresa.gif .

no really you can but seperate cards swap with people etc, but there is 2 of us that play me and the missus, so when we but even a seperate pack each there are a lot of spares n trades

I'm a bit disappointed..

I thought the new format was meant to avoid all that... I guess at least they have dumped the collecting part.. but I assumed from what I had read that they had also re-designed the rules and worked at the card balances so that you just need to "subscribe" to the game like a mmo and get a new add-on to the deck and that would be all you would need to do proper deck building.

But it looks now that if you want to build neat functional deck you have to buy multiple packs of each set so you can get enough of the card duplicates to make a deck with a decent draw chance on your cards. If the deck has to be a min of "x" cards, then you need more than one of each card you are counting on to make your deck function. There is a reason people put 3 of this or that card in and not just 1 of every type.

Maybe as the packs continue to get released we will start seeing some duplicates.. ideally you should get 3 of each card, apart form those few like those arctic dogs that allow you to have 8 cards in your deck. So while this is cheaper than ccg I am a bit bummed out that they haven't designed the packs for deck builders... just for their accountants.

yea i know what you mean really, an lcg/ccg really i think are the same, yes you can say its set packs of cards etc, but, you will still collect packs and continue to buy them more so you can have 2 or 3 or even more in a deck, whatever you call it it still amounts to the same collecting................got any spares gui%C3%B1o.gif
